      he’s only just now regaining his breath, his posture relaxing as he       speaks. there wasn’t a day that that went by where he didn’t wish for       an easy way out, though deep down he knew that no such way existed.       if he was to become a pillar it’d be hard work that got him there, nothing less.

            last time he tried to sneak away she threatened him             with a special wisteria poison she supposedly cooked             up just for him. whether there was any truth in her             words mattered little as the very idea of it was enough             to terrify him into compliance.

            he balls his hand into a fist, lightly tapping her on the             head with it. being the same position as her plenty             of times he knows exactly what she’s thinking. and              he’s not about to let her get away with what he tried             and failed to do.

      he’s sweating. physically sweating as the grip on       his shoulder slowly gets tighter. the one thing he       feared more than even the strongest demons was       in fact marceline d’amours. even the worst of hits       he could take pale in comparison to the hell she’d       put him through.

                   you truly are worse than any demon could be

                       should i even be doing this?                        maybe this isn’t a good idea               what if she thinks i’m weird for asking her?

      a myriad of thoughts coursing through his mind, mostly        negative. he’d never been in this situation before and        quite honestly without yukio and his old man he didn’t       have anyone else to turn to; yet still he felt embarrassed       over the whole situation. he tried to keep his composure       but the entire situation felt wrong to him. was she really        the best person to turn to with his uncertainty?

                          come on rin, you can do this.                                  you fight demons                          how hard could this really be?

      the emotions he’s been feeling over the last year have       been eating at him. he didn’t know how to feel about them       or if he even should be feeling them. all in all he felt marceline       was his best chance at figuring out just what he’s been       experiencing. it felt like he’s been standing outside her door       for hours when in reality it was only minutes. finally he builds       up the courage to actually knock.
