Cam Quinn

She held her restraint from grabbing her gun and nodded her head, “ Sorry, about that.” 

“Your good...” Cam said softly, tilting his head to the side and dropping his hands back to his sides. “Long night?” 

Declan shook his head with a laugh. “So not a zombie person. I’ve never seen an episode of the Walking Dead.” He admitted, taking a sip of his drink.  “I’m always so impressed by the people that really fight to stay alive despite it seeming hopeless though.”

Declan took a sip of his beer, chuckling. “You have officially lost me.  There’s enough shit going on in the world without adding zombies to it.”

“Yeah but surviving isn’t exactly the same as enjoying life.” Declan sighed, taking a sip of his beer.  “But I guess I shouldn’t complain.”

“You accidently used….what does that even mean. Did you piss on him. Cause that’s the only time his reaction is warranted.” she said with a sneer at the thought. She really wasn’t sure what had happened but she wasn’t going to push Cam if they didn’t want to tell her.

“No... I didn’t piss on him, but I am regretting that now.” He chuckled a bit, glancing behind them. After a moment, he frowned and looked down. “He saw me coming out of the men’s bathroom. He got super defensive and pissed about it. I thought only women got so defensive over men in their bathrooms but apparently not.” 

Charlie nodded, walking with Cam and just deciding to head for the nearest place. “You sure you’re alright, yeah?”

Declan took out money, tossing it down for their beers, smiling as the drinks were placed down in front of them.  “I guess so.  It just seems like the world couldn’t survive if everywhere was as bad as Baberton.  But it could just be me thinking the grass is greener on the other side.”

Cam gave a shrug. “That is true, but at the same time we are all surviving. So why couldn’t the world survive?” He reached out to wrap his hand around the bottle. “I heard it never is.” 

He smiled a little bit. “Sure, yeah. Sounds good to me.”

Declan sat down at the bar next to Cam, motioning for the bartender.  “I’ll just have whatever is on tap and he’ll have…” He asked, looking over at Cam.  After they placed their orders he frowned. “I guess that might be true in Baberton.”

Cam gave a small smile. He was really enjoying having someone not look down at him or question it. It was honestly the first time he had been open with someone. “I will have the same, please.” He glanced toward Declan, crossing his arms. “I think it’s true everywhere...”

Charlie sighed, shaking his head and glancing over his shoulder with disgust at the guy, turning back to Cam. “Yeah, well.. lucky I did. Asshole.”

“You did fine. We’ll work on your technique a little more.” she said looking at him. She frowned a bit angry at the other guy. “What happened?” she asked looking back at Cam.

Cam gave a small laugh. “Little hard to catch up when your feet are ripped off the ground...” He confessed, crossing his arms over his chest. He shook his head.  “I accidentally used the bathroom. He got pissed off...” He feared Xanthe would look down on him if she knew the truth. 

Charlie rolled his eyes at the guy, watching him until he was gone. Then he turned to Cam and shook his head. “It’s fine. Are you alright?”

Declan sighed softly, moving to open the door for him and following him inside.  “Here’s hoping you meet a few more people that aren’t dicks then.”

Cam took a deep breath, stepping inside. He felt a little awkward about Declan holding the door open for him, but he didn’t say that. Politeness was still politeness despite gender. He walked over to the bar and smiled softly. “Yeah, except you are a very rare breed so I am not the most optimistic.” 

“Excuse me but what the fuck do you think you’re doing.” Xanthe said. She had been doing a few errands before her shift when she saw the jackass. She glared. “If you don’t let them go you’ll see why I’m the one running self defense.” she said ready to hit the person. “And if you touch Cam again I will rip your dick off and feed it to the fish.” she said shoving him before going to her friend. “Are you okay.”

Declan nodded, clenching his jaw slightly. “Well, I think it is incredibly fucked up that people would try to stop you from using the bathroom.” He admitted. “You should be able to use the bathroom whenever you need to.”

“I can agree with that, but shamefully it doesn’t work that way...”  It would have worked that way if Cam wasn’t so stubborn and determined. “Maybe one day people will stop being dicks. For now, I gotta stick to hoping there are more people like you in the world.”
