Elodie is my protagonist insert, she was a playcare orphan, instead of an employee like the original protagonist of the game is. She was set to become an experiment (hence why she looks toy-ish), but the process wasn't completed—she was snuck out by an employee who wanted to adopt her. This was the very employee who missed the Hour of Joy, sent a letter ten years later asking them to return—but she found it before them, and decided to go in their place; wanting to protect the person who saved her life, and having her own survivors guilt, hoping that maybe, just maybe, along with the staff, her friends could still be alive down there, too.

She knew a lot of the kids who were turned into toys, and was even particularly close to some of them. Self indulgently, Matthew and Kevin are of note.
