A figure weilding the Firebrand was looking around despite the figure being blindfolded.
@talesoftorment-blocktalesau
The first thing she thinks is, "Well, okay, that's kind of a weird thing to see in a public space," but considering she's in a pirate uniform, she's not in any position to judge.
The second thing she notices is that the figure is holding a sword that looks very suspiciously like the Firebrand, except she doesn't actually know. It's hard to tell from her vantage point. Also... shouldn't the sword be with Player? Maybe it's a fake?
Calypso says nothing, but occasionally glances over to check what the figure is doing as she's... moping around, for lack of a better word. Not much to do in the desert.
The figure unsheathed the sword which was far easier to see and holds it infront of their blindfolded eyes before looking around... scoping something out.. before locking sights on Calypso.
One could swear they saw the reflection of eyes in the swords blade... maybe its just the heat of the desert...
Either they just so happen to be looking in her direction, or... she may or may not have done something to piss them off, based on the fact that they've taken out their sword.
Regardless, Calypso immediately goes back to staring "wistfully" off into the distance. Probably not best to get in a fight, but she has... her flintlocks, at the very least? Her cutlasses are somewhere in the old pirate camp, which means they're not with her, which means she has to go get them first and that's definitely an option she can take if she also wants to look suspicious as fuck.
She pays attention to any footsteps that might be approaching her.
The Firebrand breaks apart into little pieces as the figure ducks under to pick everything up.. their hands feeling around. Hinting at them being blind?
One of the pieces bounced and rolled it'll stops at the feet of Calypso. It's ethereal smoke emits from the broken edges... but not a lot..
. . .
She stares at the shard at her feet.
She glances to the figure still feeling around for the sword pieces.
...Okay. Yeah. This is just the situation she's in now. Eventually, she pulls her sleeve over her hand just in case, and picks up the piece that landed at her feet.
A few more seconds of awkwardly waiting, and she says, "Do you... need help?"
βββββββ Dawnburn} !
Their head turns to the voice.
βββββββ Dawnburn} o-oh yes! Please! I don't want to be jumped fully blind...
She sounds like you... Just like you perfectly...
It's getting weirder. Calypso notices how her voice (and how she looks, to some extent? The hat and the blindfold make it hard to tell) is similar, if not exactly the same to her own.
"...Fair enough."
She helps pick up the rest of the pieces one by one and places them in a small pile. Once she's sure everything's been accounted for, she hands them back to the figure.
The figure took all the parts and started fixing the Firebrand the cracks and fractures vanished with each piece put back on the blade! The eyes appearing in the reflection again this time a better look at them. Examining Calypso as the figure got up and took their hat off and bows.
βββββββ Dawnburn} again thank you so much for your help.
Sheathing the Firebrand in a duo sheath the other one houses a dark steel sword with a hilt decorated with spiderwebs. The figure stands up straight with the hat being held down lower. It was unnerving to see someone look eerily like yourself.
Calypso Dawnburn} Oh my manners- I'm Calypso Dawnburn, Guardian of the Firebrand! What's your name?
"...Oh, uh... huh. We have the same name." And the same voice, and the same face, and the same hair...
She fidgets with her hand.
"...Does the 'sword falling apart' thing usually happen, or...?"
Calypso Dawnburn} Yes it's a result of the Church of Decay... they broke the sword because it interfered with their sacrifices and turned the sword into a bait to lure in innocent people... I still need to get a new outfit... Hopefully Player Capistrano can assist me in finding one.
Some prying eyes and people in the background looked at the two suspiciously... but they just look to be gossiping. Dawnburn noticed the fidgeting.
A vaguely puzzled look appears on Calypso's face. Church of Decay... sacrifices... innocent people- wait, didn't she mention she was the Guardian of the Firebrand-
-no, she's not going to think about that right now.
"That's... interesting!" Calypso says, albeit somewhat strained.
"...What are you doing out in the desert? I can't really imagine there'd be much to do... here."
"Also, what's with the outfit?"
Calypso Dawnburn} Player- I mean Vona and I are looking for run away Decay Cultist... as we have the rest of the Guardians protecting Shedletsky from the Nameless Champions as he looks for the Darkheart Divine! We unfortunately got separated and our call cards suddenly deactivated.
Dawnburn shows Calypso this "Vona"'s call card. It wasn't vibrant. Almost forcefully dull..
Calypso Dawnburn} In fact have you seen people dress like me that smell like rotten flesh? Sheathed daggers and hip lanterns?
Dawnburn puts the hat back on as the veil flows gently.
"...Uh huh."
She takes a moment to look at the faded call card, blinking once or twice before she just hums to herself.
Erm... right. Back to the topic on hand.
"I haven't... seen anything of the sort. I guess I could keep an eye out for your description, though? Sorry."
Dawnburn sighs
Calypso Dawnburn} It's alright I just don't want them sacrificing people... if it wasn't for the decay cultists I would've been out at the seas... a dream I always wanted but it'll be hard to achieve these times... never got to meet like minded people...
Did this person- no that's- not possible...
..."Out at the seas"...? There's a brief flicker of Calypso's eyes widening, but she quickly shakes it off. "...Ah. That's... yeah, that sounds rough," Calypso says. "I guess... maybe there's a way to do both? I don't know." "...Sorry, I'm really not good at these kinds of things."

Pst mod I have a bt blog and I would like to know if you would like to have my Calypso meet yours?
(β’^β’)
ππ»ππ»
(feel free to!)
Whatβs your favorite place in the desert?
ββ¦Thereβs a spot behind where the crew set up our camp, before the temple expedition.β
βItβs a small oasis. Itβs also somewhat cool there, soβ¦ Iβd say thatβs my favorite spot.β
"...? huh. we have the same name."
"sorry, i don't really know why i have you here. i just do."
( @calypsocompass )
"..."
"Well, what could you possibly want from me?"
Ehehehehhehehehehehehehehheheheheh another calypso >:D
"not... really anything, to be honest."
"if you know how to contact anyone named kyoko, that would be nice, though..."
I sure wonder how she's doing!
Could it be worse? Better? Maybe she's even happier without you...
"Do you really think so?"
"...Y'know, I guess there's no way to really find out before I get home. I don't know if she's doing good without me."
"...Mmph."
fate? then what of HIM?
"It wasn't-"
"...I'd... like to think it wasn't his fate to die there. Don't talk to me about it."

Really?
Hm. I wonder if she'll even remember you! Its been so long after all~
"Fuck off. I'm just thinking about it."
"...Ugh. It has been a long while... I hope she's been doing well. I think she should be in college right now, if anything..."
"...Maybe she doesn't."
Hurting that much, it it?
"Kind... of. It's one of those nights."
"I really wish... I could see my sister again. I haven't talked to her since I got lost."
"Ugh. Probably best not to overdo the alcohol, still."
