This is the final product I created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator! I used my tablet to trace my drawings, and then added texture, arrows and text. I was able to shift my drawings around on the computer to create a composition that made more sense than the composition I initially had in my drawings. I love working digitally because it’s easier for me to move things around and see what fits the best with the story I’m trying to tell.Â
From my initial concept, my classmates’ suggestions, and my own research, I was able to come up with some initial sketches and then more refined sketches that I was able to take into photoshop to create my final digital image.Â

While we were critiquing the initial sketches and ideas that we had for this project, someone suggested to me that I should make my main character a monkey to go along with the theme of banana milkshakes, and make the narrative more kid friendly. Because I did not have access to any monkeys off hand, I found a website called Pixabay that offers fair use stock images. I looked at images of many different types of monkeys doing many different things so I could get a sense for how they move and what I wanted my character to look like. All the different types of monkeys I found came in handy for my final panel where I depicted my main character drinking milkshakes with all of his friends!
I took several reference photos to work from. I didn’t have all of the ingredients on hand at my house, so I had to get creative. For example, I took a picture of me holding shampoo bottle to try to get the general idea of how to draw someone pouring milk and used a box of corn meal to get the shape of the ice cream container that I actually wanted (as opposed to the shape of the ice cream container I had on hand).
