oh! i promise i haven’t abandoned this blog, i’ve just been very burned out lately. i have not been super active on my other blog either

i’ll try to get to replies. in the meantime... i’ve got an idea for a very interesting post regarding a topic from the sinnoh region that i’d like to share.

i was inspired by my copy of pokemon platinum, which i bought a little while ago but started playing recently (i owned diamond as a kid but i always wanted platinum)

     Slowly but surely, Plumeria’s heart rate began to recede. This was real. This was happening. This was not the strangest thing that had happened to her, not by a long shot, and she could handle this with dignity and grace just as she did everything else that came her way.

     Without a second thought Plumeria slumped into her desk chair and took her cigarettes and lighter from her drawer, immediately lighting up a smoke.

     All she knew of Darkrai came from Tutu’s books of myths and legends. He was a figure of fairy tales, like most Pokémon of his ilk. The fact that he did indeed exist was something akin to waking up in time to catch the Tooth Fairy.

     Now he’s trying to comfort her? Plumeria laughs, smoke billowing from her nose as she gives him a shake of her head. “ You got no idea. You don’t get bad dreams, do you? Do you even sleep? Shit. Anybody ever tell you you weird at conversation? ”

     Abruptly, it strikes her that she’s being rude. “ …you wanna join me? ” She brandished the cigarette case.

“I only sleep.. if made to do so. I have never dreamed.” The only time he’d ever slept was when, in a battle, he was lulled to sleep by a move. But sleep did very little to give him rest, and he never dreamed.

“Humanspeak.. it’s hard. I am learning.” Darkrai said, his own way of apologizing for something he knew he couldn’t help. Somehow, he felt that this probably wasn’t a real issue. He understood, somewhat, that seeing someone like him could make things very difficult as far as conversation went. At least, for some humans. They were all so different.

As she brandished the case, he gingerly took out the cigarette. He’d seen these in the mouths of humans plenty of times before. Without thinking twice, he popped it into his mouth and ate it. It didn’t taste very good, but he didn’t want to be rude, so he hid his surprise.

   Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. 

     Swallowing hard, the woman glances back up at Darkrai. Clad only in a pair of Gengar-print boxers, her usual pigtails wrapped in careful buns for the night, she looks completely disheveled from the rude awakening. 

     However … as he begins to speak, her consciousness begins to return fully and the realization that she is in fact awake begins to dawn. Looking away, she paces the room far from him, anxious energy escaping through worried footsteps. 

     Where was Nightshade? Of course she would be off gallivanting when most she needed an ally. …No, that wasn’t fair. 

     Again, she looks at him, falling silent as she lifts a hand to nervously gnaw a thumbnail. “ You exactly who I think you are, ain’t you? ” she hazards. “ You have a good supper or what? ”

With the woman engaging in conversation, Darkrai took this as a green light, and though he didn’t leave, he didn’t move in any other way either, and stood almost statue-like in the darkness, with the light of the moon shining in the window casting a faint glow on his front.

The fact that she knew him was a bit of a surprise- he didn’t live anywhere close to this region. She either traveled a lot or was generally knowledgeable on Pokemon. Either way, he was willing to bet that knowing who he was contributed to her apparent calmness.

The song continued as the Legendary would like it to. Vastor had his focus set on his singing. Not to mention this was of an rare occasion. As getting to see a Primarina sing in general out in the wild is a extremely rare spectacle. The song would go on for about several minutes, as commonly most song are prone to be. Any longer and it would probably cause serious damage to the vocal cords without some sort of reprieve.   But none the less the Sea Lion was indeed filling the night sky with a sound of music and splendor that is not very common these days. Hell Vastor even was doing a sort of, slow ball room dance with himself. Around the top of his rock almost like it was a stage.  Putting on two shows at once both pleasant to the ears and pleasant to the eyes. Albeit hard to move on the tail fins, they make perfect for slow and ball room dance styled movement. As he merely took a step and pantomimed that someone was dancing with him. By having his arms out in a position as if he was holding another.  Until he inevitably came to a slowing halt as the song was just about over until… silence… and then he took a bow, as if he was imagining a crowd watching him. As much as he had stage fright when an audience was there. He didn’t mind having an imaginary one to help quell his fears…

As the stranger continued to sing, Darkrai almost closed his eyes to better take in the music when they shot open again to watch the Primarina dance. It was completely unexpected, and he suddenly got the urge to start dancing as well, but he decided to keep quiet and still, so as not to interrupt the performance.

When the performance eventually came to an end, and the Primarina bowed for what Darkrai could only imagine was an imaginary audience, he couldn’t help but clap. Such a beautiful performance deserved appreciation! Though, once he started, he realized that perhaps this wasn’t the best idea. Seeing as how it was too late to take it back now that he’d made a noise, he decided to speak as well. Perhaps speaking would make him less scary?

Toma silently observed how Rowlet reacted to the much larger Pokémon’s actions. His Taillow had taken refuge on the boy’s lap, and was receiving some comforting pets. The bird Pokémon was utterly terrified at the sight of Darkrai.

A little chirp of surprise escaped Rowlet, but he wasn’t that all scared. He gave a soft coo once he was placed on the other Pokémon’s leg, looking quite pleased with the stroking.

“Would you like that ? I’ll have to find an excuse to stay up late, and sneak away from my brother …” Perhaps he’d have to eventually tell Dingo about this, though he feared how the older boy would react.

“My name is Toma ! It’s really nice to meet you, Darkrai.“ The child’s smile shone bright in the darkness.

It seemed as though the boy, Toma, would have to go through quite a lot of trouble just to explore the region with him. Darkrai found himself worrying a little, if it was really ok to do such a thing. After all, the last thing he wanted was to be disruptive.

“If it is not a bother.” Though, it seemed like Toma himself wouldn’t mind sneaking out, so perhaps this wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Besides, if he was there, plus the boy’s Pokemon, then there was no way that Toma could come to harm. Darkrai would absolutely make sure of that.
