Ladycone's Parents are Cream (Unicorn Bunny) and Buck (Sabertooth Dog) both are hybrids from the baking district. They have other kids as well.

Important Note: Ladycone's horn is covered by an icecream cone.

Oldest to Youngest: Milkshake, Strawberry, Stag, Ladycone, and Blackberry

On the Cousins (Naki and Rupert) Tree We got:

Humus and Bracken united their kingdoms leading to two sons and one daughter (not in this tree since her design hasn't been touched yet). The two sons are Strider and Mosie (Mosey).

Strider and Willow had Nakiv. Mosey and Rema had Rupert. However Mosey also before had a daughter with a lioness (speculated hybrid) named Carp. Their daughter/ Rupert's sister is Sienna. Since Nakiv was exiled she is now princess.

Thats when I started looking into fun character designs again. Rupert and Naki were both dull muted colors so I wanted to try bright and colorful designs.

While Naki was full lion and Rupert close enough to be considered full lion I also wanted something totally hybrid to show off the world's bigger populations. Enter Ribbit the bright kind of blue frog, kangaroo, pocket mouse girl. I loved her energy but she wasn't a keeper.

For a moment in this character search I started with Older sister vibe (cyborg-cowboy-animal vibe) before getting younger and younger until instead of older sister it became tomboy best friend. I wanted them to have a similar clothes style but be different in scheme.

In these sketches dog came pretty clear but I also was playing with the idea of them having tiger or unicorn aspects (you'll see soon).

I played with different ear shapes and lengths but couldn't figure out how to make them look right.

I wish I could say more about the process but to be honest it just kind of clicked eventually with this doodle

While in the middle of experimenting with the original western robot dog I figured something out and kept pushing. Peachfuzz (the name didn't stick) came out

Her original colors were going to be pink (a color I love) but then I remembered I wanted her to be tomboyish and colorful. I wanted her to have a rough tough baby grunge aesthetic so her being kind was surprising and her being loyal was obvious.

Which gave us our main girl (1/2), Ladycone. Named after her cone that covers a real unicorn horn and also her real name Ladybird (I just think it sounds adorable).

Naki originally came from a dream I had way back in 2020 but in 2022 I had a follow-up dream that encouraged me to expand on the idea.

Naki was always going to be about an albino lion who was an exile prince. The real question came from what was he going to do? (Spoiler: like the image above he ended up being a fighter)

Once I had a cool idea I had to think about his world. Who was around, why was he exiled, what was the goal? I just wanted a good time so I made background characters that were silly with cool designs. Some background character sketches became reoccurring or main characters.

You can spot Rupert (who was originally supposed to be a superfan) in the first sketch at the top. I loved him so much I wanted him to be a main character and while thinking about it I wanted to make them close but brothers felt misplaced. Then I realized there's not enough cousins in saga adventures. So with that I had my first main guys Nakiv and Rupert. But more about the rest in the next posts
