Meet your maker || Bek & Cake
Cake squeezed her hand lightly and leaned into her touch, smiling before he wrapped an arm around her and pulled her into a warm embrace, memorizing her heartbeat as he murmured, âMom.â That was who this woman was to him, she brought him back to life, made him better, she was his mother. âIâm feeling fine, more then fine, actually. All systems are fully operational. The nanites are regulating my body temperature and my emotion regulator is working perfectly.â
He pulled back just enough to look her in the eyes, trying to find a way to express his gratitude and feelings without being over the top. âThank you,â he said softly, âfor bringing me back and repairing me, for being here when I woke upâŚeverything.â
As she embraced him she was flooded with emotions, the most prominent of which was love.  Because yes, she had begun with the desire to simply find out if she could actually rebuild an android, and create an AI of her own, but she had lovingly crafted Cake over months.  She had given him her knowledge, her values, while still creating something wholly unique.  And as he called her âMomâ she realised that that was what she had really done, created a child.  Her child.Â
The second thought was that her child had an American accent. Â She was well and truly immersed in this country.
She smiled as he thanked her, it made crescents of her mismatched eyes, showed each of the four fangs that sat comfortably among her more human teeth, and crinkled the scars on her right cheek and forehead. Â âWell, how could I be anywhere else?â
He smiled back, elated by her reply. Cakeâs eyes roamed over her face, writing every inch of it to his memory. His mother was beautiful and he wanted to remember this moment for the rest of his life.
âI donât think I have ever been happier then I am right now, in this very moment,â he murmured, checking his previous memories that had been restored to him. âI didnât think I would ever be back,â the android admitted, remembering that his last though before being shut down was that he would rust away in the SHIELD storage.
