These two were just amazing. Euzelle is 94, still exercises, still drives. She has been with Reginald for 72 years and the two have never had fight. Reginald said there just isn't time to fight. Their daughter told me she's never heard her parents say an unkind word to each other. See more from my LASTING project on my website.

New work up on the website today. LASTING is a portrait project with couples that have been together more than 50 years. Nathan and Helen Sims met in 1957 when Nathan was in graduate school and Helen was an undergraduate. After 54 years together Helen says that finding the balance in the relationship is the key to being happy together for so long. Nathan said the pair has never gone to bed angry. “A lot of people think that a marriage is equal,” Helen said. “But there are days where you do 95% and there are days where he may do 95%. You have to get over the idea that marriage is 50/50.” Helen is now working on finding a new balance as she has become a caregiver to Nathan in the recent years as well as wife. Nathan was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and while Helen knows she’ll eventually have to find more full-time help, right now she wants to be the one to care for her husband.
