→ Background

Caitlin had a good life in Baberton. She was born and raised here, brought up by her loving parents, big sister to Sarah and Addison. It seemed that Cait had it all. Looks, kindness, intelligence. She had a great personality that just drew people to her, unlike her poor sister Sarah who was quiet and as reserved as one could possibly be. Though it was likely due to the bullying she received at school and Caitlin did try to help but she just never knew how. She was never that close with their cousin Cole, it seemed they had nothing in common other than Sarah. Caitlin had a lot of friends, she was a social butterfly growing up.

Caitlin always dreamed of leaving Baberton, she never made a secret of that. She dreamed of going to London or Paris and becoming a model, her lifelong dream. She’d always had the figure and the looks to get there and she never gave up on it, though some people thought she was being too fanciful. Her father was the worst about it, he was very hard on Cait when she wouldn’t give up on what he saw as a childish dream. She rebelled against him over it and the two would often end up in lots of arguments, something she knew Sarah hated, but Cait could never get him to understand. After school, she skipped college (much to her father’s frustration) and moved to London with her then-boyfriend. They lived together while she worked at her dream and she kept in very close contact with Addy and especially Sarah, always worried about her.

Cait came back to Baberton a few times over the years, to meet up with family and friends, and she of course came back when Sarah was admitted to hospital after her suicide attempt. Addison was beside herself and Cait sort of kept the family together during her return. Ever since then, Caitlin had been very concerned about her sister, full of worry. Even when Sarah came out of hospital, she was never really okay and it was very obvious. Cait didn’t feel like their parents really did enough to help though she understood that it was difficult to know what to do.

In London, Caitlin did find some success as a model, just like she’d always wanted. She did a few things, though nothing too massive. She’s not too well known and she flitted around here and there, but even back in Baberton she was never as big of a hometown celebrity as the likes of Emily Lane, who was modelling from a young age, which can frustrate her.

Coming back to this town for good was never really in Cait’s plans, especially with a serial killer on the loose (when are the police going to step up and solve that little problem?!) and she puts on a big show about how she’s only here on a break and she’ll be back off to her fancy life soon enough but really she isn’t sure she has much of a life to go back to in London. Caitlin has been very down about her life and even herself lately, especially with being back in town. It feels like a little bit of a failure but she does her best to just focus on her sister and catch up with everything she’s missed. While she was away she and Sarah would text almost every day and she’d very much like to meet this Harvey guy who’s making her sister so happy.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck when Sarah was found dead in the woods… next to the body of Hannah Clarkson, who she had apparently killed accidentally and then killed herself beside over the guilt of keeping that secret. Caitlin is very confused about it all. It’s been two years now and Caitlin doesn’t know how to process or believe any of it, that her baby sister is really gone. Everything had seemed to just be slotting into place for her and this doesn’t really sit right with Caitlin even now. The death made her stay in town a lot longer than she ‘planned’ and Caitlin, on a spur of the moment, decided to buy the bakery from Charlie Baker and make it her own. Other than being a model, Caitlin had always liked the idea of opening her own little cafe or something similar and she’s always loved baking and owning a bakery might be the shot in the arm her life needs right now.

Before she came home, during a shoot, Caitlin was coerced into taking off her clothes and doing a nude photoshoot. She was very uncomfortable with it but the photographer made out like it was necessary and that everyone did it and, not wanting to lose her new job, she did as she was told and went along with it. Though she felt really dirty but it was no big deal right? Caitlin didn’t know that they were running a scam, with her boyfriend of all people, and were selling naked pictures of women for money. They weren’t legit and when Cait did find out after overhearing a conversation she went crazy and threatened to go to the police. They locked her in a room and she was trapped there for days, listening to brief snippets of conversations and she managed to piece together that they seemed to want to “sell her” to keep her quiet. Into prostitution? It was hard to hear everything but it scared her so much and she almost lost all hope. Luckily one day the “guard” forgot to lock the door after giving her a glass of water and she fought her way out, heading straight for her apartment and packing up her stuff. Thankfully her boyfriend wasn’t home and she managed to get on a train, feeling guilty about not going to the police straight off, but she’s scared being back in town that he’ll figure out where she went and something bad will end up happening.
