i love it cause i like the idea of being able to form my own original language and thinking about how differently something can be viewed based on the definitions of words and all the creative stuff that goes into that

and i hate it cause i went through school hardly passing all my english classes due to undiagnosed and unchecked learning disabilities, and now every time i try looking into how languages function on a technical level to better my conlang and i get into all the jargon and IPA i feel like a six year old trying to understand advanced biochemistry. i genuinely cannot tell how much of this i'm suppose to have known from school and how much of it is more advanced stuff i shouldn't feel bad about not knowing

does not help that while i am in a conlanging server, everyone in there seems to be like that one xkcd comic about laymen vs experts- every time i ask for help in there i always get jargon in response and i have to ask for clarification, and every time without fail they try to explain the jargon to me with even more jargon.
