When my aunt died, my mom screamed this atrocious wail that I’ll never forget. My dad looked at me and said simply “now imagine that sound she’d make if it were you”.
If it weren’t for that moment, and his words, I’d never have made it out of my former relationship alive.
When I left her, I vowed never to be vulnerable again. It didn’t take long before someone found their way through that barrier of mine.
If it weren’t for that moment, and my dad’s words, I’d have never found this woman who means so fucking much to me.
I struggle everyday, trying to unlearn everything that 10 years of distrust, violence, self-hatred, and misery taught me. You understand, and offer endless patience and reassurance.
I’d do it all again. Every tear, every doubt, and every time I sat there holding that glock in my hands trying to let go. I’d do it all again if I knew you were waiting for me at the end of it baby. ❤️
Thank you, Danielle ❤️ my reason for it all, before I ever even knew.
and thank you, Dad. You’ll never know what you did for me.
