Charmy Bee

He had finally got himself to get out of bed, walking out into the kitchen to make some coffee...Something he had only resorted to in the winter. It didn't help that much some of these days...Today was one of them. He stood there, looking at a picture frame... of him and Mori...God how he missed her. He hurt with each passing day that he wasn't with her. She had missed Thanksgiving and Christmas...It hurt a lot. He knew the situation for her and Espio wasn't great...But it hurt so much...He wasn't even able to tell her he loved her... The memories...

So I’m going to cut to the chase here and try not to make this very long, but I feel like this is something I should have done a while ago.

I’ve decided it is best that I put this blog on hiatus until further notice. I honestly just don’t know where to take Charmy as a character right now due to circumstances out of my control and I just can’t get the interest of others nor the motivation for myself to do some more small stuff until things improve. I have several plot threads that I cannot really expand on at the moment and don’t really want to start anymore. Thus I’ve decided it’s best to wait until some other stuff changes before I come back to this muse. It doesn’t help that the blog reboot for this particular muse never really got off the ground like I’d hoped. So I feel like it’s time for a break and for me to focus on my two other blogs that I’m currently active in.

I’m sorry if this disappoints anyone, but I feel this must be done for my own sake and wish everyone the best until my return. I cannot say when this might bee, but I hope it’s sooner rather than later. But for now, I hope to see you all on my other blogs. If you would like to reach out and chat, I’ll try to check my IMs every once in a while and I’m sure some people here have my Discord, but I make no promises.

“Unless they want to get to him through me…I’m not going to lie, I don’t trust his clan anymore. And I wouldn’t be honest if I also didn’t mention that I believe at least a faction of the clan isn’t very happy with their own clan. I haven’t told any of them about my ancestry for a reason. If they find out, I could be used as leverage. Not to mention the dealings with my zone’s mad doctor also don’t help matters. I’ve been thinking about this a lot since I’ve last seen them…”

“Charmette definitely has been doing more than what I did…Good on her. She’s got herself a bright future with the way she’s headed. I’m sure you’re proud of her. And I’m sure Velocity is doing fine. If she’s even remotely like Sonic, then she’ll be able to handle herself just fine.”

“Charmy, if they’re anything like my own people….they already know your history.” Espia told him bluntly, seriously…that was kind of a hard thing to hide. He was the only bee she had seen in that other world outside of a hive with occasional conflicts with others of his kind. “Those of us here separated from the original clan, so I would not be surprised if something similar is happening in your world.”

She let out a small sigh and nodded when he commented on Velocity. “I sure hope so…she was hurt badly the first time she encountered a hostile SWAT bot. I worry about her now…I haven’t seen her since.”

Charmette came back and set the kettle over the fire as she sat with the older Mobians, quickly picking up on their moods and the child set a hand on the older bee’s arm with a soft smile. “Hey, we don’t know anything for sure yet right? Try to relax Charmy, it’ll be okay!”

“I’d like to think it’s only a small portion of the clan that knows...But yeah you’re probably right. I guess it’s only a matter of time then...Maybe I should figure out a way to nip this problem before anything can happen.”

*Charmy watched the younger bee leave the hut before turning to Espia, his tone a bit hushed so she wouldn’t hear. He didn’t want to worry the young bee…He couldn’t put his problems on her all the time.*

“I haven’t heard from then either…It’s like they’ve disappeared. I can’t even reach out to them…It seems like every time I do the clan just shuts me out. Not to mention I think they’re starting to spy on me now…Not sure if Espio said something or not. I don’t know anymore…Either that or it’s the other clans…Gives me a bad feeling either way.”

“She’s told me a bit. Told me who’s missing and what went down. Told me what she’s been up to as well. Glad to see she’s been able to do more than what I feel like I could have…And hopefully this ends soon.”

“Hmm…” Espia put a hand to her chin, closing her eyes as she thought back on the last time she had seen the others. “Last I saw Espio…he commented on wanting to keep you out of future events that may fall upon him or his clan. That and…I picked up he was keeping something from me. I have not seen Mori in…a very long time. Even before the fall…”

She opened her eyes and the violet chameleon gazed up at him as her hands returned to her lap. “I am sorry that I cannot provide you with more information Charmy. But my insight on your world is limited, if I had to guess why the shinobi keep an eye on you though it’s per Espio’s request. Not malicious but protective if anything. The shinobi of your world would never hurt someone that a member is extremely close to.”

Espia glanced out at the way Charmette had gone with a proud smile coming to her face. “She wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer when she asked if she could help. I have no idea where she learned how to hack computers better than myself and Victoria combined. It’s been very helpful keeping Iva away from our home. And from what I have seen across the worlds….this is going to last a very long time. I am…hopeful that Velocity is alright. She can handle the droids far better than anyone else I know.”

“Yeah…I am glad to be doing better myself…I hope things get better though…For my family’s sake. It’s hard not knowing anything that’s going on…And I’m afraid if I try to figure it out, I’ll end up in the middle of it. It’s not something I want; it’s the last thing I need even.”

*Charmy took a seat near the two and looked around. He took in the interior…It was an interesting sort of place. He supposed they made with what they could after all…It wasn’t bad either. He wasn’t surprised to see Victoria passed out on her hammock either.*

“I’m just glad you all are okay. I figured something happened when I didn’t hear from you three.”

“If I know my twin and Mori, they’ll call us if they’re having trouble.” Espia gave the young adult bee a reassuring smile to comfort him. “You know how the clan is, we have a bad habit of not asking for help unless we know for sure that we need it. But I believe, they are safe for now. I have sensed no dire feelings when it comes to your family members Charmy.”

Charmette got up to go get the kettle and flew out to go fill it with clean water from a pump outside. Espia watched the child’s actions but soon returned her focus to Charmy, nodding at his second comment.

“I am sure that Charmette has filled you in on all that has happened….not just the move?” She raised an eyebrow curiously, she recalled him mentioning that Charmette had rattled off some things to him earlier.

“Uuuuummmm....Thanks?”

*Charmy would return the hug and smile. He listened to her as they talked, following her into the hut.* “I can’t imagine how much it takes to do something like this…I hope it isn’t taking too much out of you.”

“Things are calmer…For better or for worse. I’m just trying to get by, getting some interesting days every now and again.” *He wasn’t going to bring up any specifics, like any of the police cases or busts. Might as well not put any worries into their heads.* “But other than that it’s been pretty quiet.”

“At least you still have a home and all your friends, right?” Charmette walked along beside him, smiling brightly for the older bee’s sake.

Espia nodded as they entered the hut. It was smaller than their old office had been, Made of wood, paper, and bamboo. But at the center was a clay and stone fire pit with a metal chimney above it, that was where a small fire was currently burning to keep the home warm. Victoria was passed out nearby in a hammock, the other two hammocks were nearby. Charmette’s up high in a corner near the roof and Espia’s at the opposite wall, blankets folded neatly in both.  There was still a small shelf nearby with boxes, a kettle, tea cups, and a first aid kit at the bottom. Beside it was a small fridge, but one could wonder if it really held enough for the three.

“I am just grateful that things have been going better for you, Charmy.” Espia sat down in front of the fire-pit, opposite from where Charmette had landed. “Those last few weeks we saw you were quite worrying….”

“Yeah...I am glad to be doing better myself...I hope things get better though...For my family’s sake. It’s hard not knowing anything that’s going on...And I’m afraid if I try to figure it out, I’ll end up in the middle of it. It’s not something I want; it’s the last thing I need even.”

“It’s good to see you to Espia. I’m sorry it took me so long to visit. I’m sure you were worried sick about me.”

“How are you? Charmette’s told me a lot already. Heard you got your hands full.”

*Charmy smiled at Espia, glad to see her again…It was almost therapeutic in a way too. Espio alternates always seemed to this sort of effect on him and she was no different…Actually, he was closer to her than the others so perhaps it was.*

“It’s alright, we were plenty busy here as well.” Espia smiled as she gave the bee a gentle hug for a moment before stepping back and listening to his question. “It’s been tiring but I’m adjusting. Getting used to my clan calling me “Leader” now rather than “Heiress” is taking some getting used to…among many other things. I do hope things are calmer in your world.”

She motioned upstairs towards one of the huts above. “Come on inside, no sense standing out here when the swamp can flood at any moment.”

*Charmy would return the hug and smile. He listened to her as they talked, following her into the hut.* “I can’t imagine how much it takes to do something like this...I hope it isn’t taking too much out of you.”

*Well the place seemed nice enough, although the invisible population suddenly appearing before his eyes certainly had the older bee a bit uneasy…It didn’t bother him when Espia or Espio did it…But the other clan members back home always made him super uneasy when they did that, like they’re always spying on him.*

“Seems like a lot of effort was put into this place…It looks nice. Espia chose a good place to make her base of operations.”

Charmette waved at the villagers who then went back to whatever buisness they were in the middle of before the warp ring opening up had spooked them. She then turned back to Charmy with a bright smile. “Yeah, the smell of the swamp takes some getting used to but…we make the best of it.”

“And thank you for the complement Charmy.” That gentle calm tone came from Espia herself as she stepped down the nearby stairwell, a welcoming smile on the chamelon’s face. “I can’t take all the credit though. Salvador helped me as well. It’s good to see you again, my friend.”

“It’s good to see you to Espia. I’m sorry it took me so long to visit. I’m sure you were worried sick about me.”

“How are you? Charmette’s told me a lot already. Heard you got your hands full.”

“Well alright, lets go then. Better not to waste time then huh? A Japanese Tree House village huh? It sounds a lot like something her clan would come up with.”

Charmette took out her own warp ring to use, once the portal opened the small bee tugged at the older one’s jacket to make him go through. The village was exactly like she said, towering mangrove trees supported the village huts which were styled pretty close to the architecture of the Dragon Kingdom. Everything was made with plain wood and coated in a lacquer to repell the water around them. There were stairs leading up from the patches of dry ground up into the walk ways above. 

The swamp itself was a lot darker than one would think, due to the thick clusters of mangrove leaves blocking out most of the sunlight. It was also the best thing that kept the village hidden from any bots flying overhead. Lights came from the local flora, large mushrooms that gave of a soft green or red light and shone even brighter when touched. Right now it appeared abandoned but if one looked hard they could notice areas where the rope bridges sank slightly and the feeling of many eyes being on them at once.

“Everyone! I’m home!”Charmette called out since she wasnt as trained in detecting ninja, upon hearing the little one call out…it was like a ripple effect as the chameleons that made up most of the village population now showed themselves. They trusted Charmette.

“I do still have that Warp Ring…Maybe you’re right. I just hope she’s not too busy though. It sounds like she has a lot to deal with…I hope she’s been doing well…”

“But I guess we won’t know until we go to see her, huh?”

“You worry as much as Mom and Uncle Espio do!” Charmette giggled at his worries about showing up unannounced. “You know Mom cares about you like family almost as much as I do! It’ll be fine! The other ninja are super nice and they know who to trust.”

“Besides, you should see Haven,” Charmette beamed as she remembered what her home looked like. “It’s like tree houses meet Japanese villages.”

“Well alright, lets go then. Better not to waste time then huh? A Japanese Tree House village huh? It sounds a lot like something her clan would come up with.”

*He chuckled and placed an arm around her.*

“I’m glad to see you again Charmette…It’s nice to have some family around again. Hopefully it stays that way.”

Charmette beamed happily as she turned to try and hug the older bee. He was the only other bee that she trusted after all, and family. She perked up when he commented on that and darted up to hover at his eye level for a moment, an excited spark in her eyes.

“Well, you’re ALWAYS welcome at Haven!” She told him, that signature hyper energy showing through. “You got the warp ring for it right? Why don’t you come back with me. I’m sure Mom would be happy to see you! Besides, I think it would do you some good, Charmy.”

“I do still have that Warp Ring...Maybe you’re right. I just hope she’s not too busy though. It sounds like she has a lot to deal with...I hope she’s been doing well...”

*He only looked at her briefly as a response to that question. He wasn’t going to say a word about that…He knew what it meant…*

“We shouldn’t dwell on our problems so much.” *He would give the other a small smile.* “We got so much more going for us after all. We’ll be alright in the end.”

“…Charmy?” Charmette got concerned about his silence, it was now scaring her that he wouldn’t answer that question. Maybe…she was better off not knowing that answer though. The young bee’s antenna drooped but she accepted it. “Okay…I get it. I know you don’t like talking about them.”

She perked back up when he did start speaking again and she couldn’t help but return his small smile. “Yeah, I like to think everything works out. Chaos willing. I mean…” She hovered a bit into the air, something she did to lift her spirits. “…If Ebony comes back that would be even better! But in both worlds, there’s always hope! Right, big brother?”

“Yes, there will always be hope, not matter what.”

*He chuckled and placed an arm around her.*
