Akiro glanced at Yakedo while he was making a bending move and stopped. He tried to hold the water in place but it turned unstable and fell. He hadn’t noticed when he played with some fire between his fingers the first time, but seeing him firebend now turned him nervous. He stood still, cautious and with some fear, but hiding the last.
Yakedo continued to focus on the leaf, noting how the longer he kept the fire at bay, the more difficult it became. Still though, his record was a few hours, so he had a good amount of time left, Yakedo figured. He wasn’t really paying attention to Akiro at this point, focusing on the leaf, so he didn’t notice his reaction to the fire.
After a while, seeing Yakedo didn’t seem to focus on anything else, he slowly tried to sneak away, somewhere peaceful away from the firebender, following down the river until he was far enough, though he could still be spotted from the place he was before.
Yakedo decided to take a break from the leaf and opened his eyes. The first thing he noticed was that Akiro was gone. Yakedo shrugged at this, Akiro likely wouldn't survive in the Fire Nation wilds for long, being unaccustomed to this sort of environment. He just met the guy after all, why would he care if he got himself killed?

Akiro kept bending, attempting some less common movements, failing every now and then. making the water fall to the ground, to which he just bended some more water out of the river to keep practicing. He was slowly calming down, getting the hang of the bending he hadn’t practiced in so long, but also getting used to Yakedo’s precense, though hard to say if it was that, or his silence was helping to ignore him.
Yakedo continued to watch Akiro’s attempts at bending. He was getting better, more acquainted with his element. It seems Yakedo had made the right choice in keeping quiet. Still though, while he was here, he might as well practice. He grabbed a nearby leaf, set a small fire on it, and began to keep the fire from reaching the edges of the leaf.

Akiro was going to say something like ‘Anyone told you to stay off?’, but decided against it. The least he needed was burn scars. “I wouldn’t know the reasons to go here.” he said as he kept bending.
And Yakedo didn’t really have a response to that. This was a man who was clearly untrusting, and for good reason, so Yakedo stayed silent and just let Akiro continue his bending. Concentration is key after all.

Akiro glanced at Yakedo, but got back to focus on his bending and after failing many more times, he gave a sigh of frustration. “Akiro” he simply said and tried to calm down. He was trying to waterbend a big blob of water after years of no bending, so he decided to change his attempt. He tried again, now managing to pull a small amount of water out of the river and move it around him, smirking now.
Yakedo just laid down on the riverbank, watching Akiro waterbend. “You know, the funny thing is, it was a waterbender that inspired me to go travelling.” He twirled a small fire around his fingers. “I just seem to keep running into you guys in the oddest places.”

Akiro was going to reply, butnthen decided against it. Why was he still talking to him? He’d probably just mock him. He finished the bread and continued trying to waterbend. He managed to make the blob slightly bigger, but still not getting it out of the river. The water he drank helped, but not much.
Yakedo looked at the waterbender’s second attempt at controlling water and shook his head. “Well, you’re getting there, right?” He held his hand out. “I don’t believe I got your name though. I’m Yakedo, and you are…?” He trailed off, not sure the waterbender would even give him his name.

Akiro just glanced when he spoke the first time. When this person tossed the bread at him, his reaction was a bit slow and he almost didn’t catch it, and then it bounced from his hands before he could get a good grip. Akiro glared at…
Akiro shook his head. “They wanted to get rid of me as soon as they could. If the Firelord sent orders to send me back, they ignored it” he said, sounding annoyed at the fact he should had been sent home.
Yakedo thought about that. “Well… what are your plans then?”, he asked. “I mean, your clearly not strong enough to waterbend your way back home, hell, it’s hard for even master waterbenders I hear, crossing oceans.” And that information was over 100 years old. No waterbender had ever dared to try during the war.

Yakedo chuckled at how the waterbender didn’t trust him. He didn’t blame him of course, he clearly just got out of priso- Wait. “So… umm, how exactly did you get out of prison?”
"Firelord Zuko’s orders." Akiro replied and continued eating the bread. The guards dropped him off the prison just as he was. No feeding, no water. Just grabbed and dropped. "Why, should I still be there?"
"Oh no, just wondering!" Yakedo replied frantically. "What, with the clothes and such, maybe you were an escapee or something..." He chuckled nervously. "But they didn't bother to send you out to one of the Water Tribes? That's odd."

"Waterbending." Akiro simply replied in an annoyed tone, then got up. He glanced over at this person but then decided to ignore him and attempt to waterbend. He was barely managing to lift some water, but not getting to separate it from the river, leading it to quickly collapse. However, Akiro kept trying.
Yakedo tried not to burst out laughing at that pitiful attempt at bending. “Better luck next time, eh?” He chuckled. He took a piece of bread out of his bag and tossed it to the waterbender. “Here, eat, you clearly need to get your strength back up.”

Akiro put a hand underwater, and with a small movement of his fingers, an ice spike formed in his hand, glancing at this man while keeping the shard hidden. Seconds later, he thought it through and melted the spike while still underwater. The least he needed was getting back there. Akiro then washed his face a bit more and drinking more water. He hadn’t had the chance to drink this much before.
Yakedo was silent during this, focused on drinking and refilling his supplies. “So…” He said finally, “You clearly just got out of prison, so tell me, what’d they get you for?” Despite the fact that the person who inspired him was a waterbender, you didn’t see many of them in the Fire Nation. At all.

Akiro looked up at this person, and that looked now showed hate. He looked back down to the water and washed his face, keeping an eye on him. He had developed a hate to the Fire Nation. After all, they put him in prison for so long since the raid to the Southern Water Tribe, since he was a kid. His prison clothes gave a good idea where he came from, and his expression showed he wasn’t happy.
Yakedo looked the man once over. The blue eyes and the prison clothing provided clues to who this was. He was clearly of Water Tribe ethnicity, likely a waterbender. “Hey, don’t give me that look, just saying hello.” Yakedo rolled his eyes.
