That’s it! Last night I FINALLY caught up and watched the series finale of Grimm and boy was it bittersweet.
I know I’m weeks behind, but still watch out for Spoilers
Felt like a trippy kind of episode. (My sister compared it to Inception and while it wasn’t that intense I understand what she meant.) In the first part of the finale, the skull man came into our world killing literally anyone in his path and picking up the English language along the way. He was confronted by Nick, Hank, and Wu in the precinct and left Nick unharmed, while he killed Wu and then Hank. Now, when I first saw Wu get killed I was like OMG NO! As you already know, Wu and Hank have been some of my favorites this season. I felt someone was going to die in the finale, but didn’t think it would be Wu. And then Hank died… That’s when I realized this couldn’t be real. They couldn’t kill Hank, nope, he couldn’t be dead. It pained me to watch Nick’s reaction and that the magic stick did not bring them back to life, like it did for Nick or Eve. Then when everyone else starting dropping like flies I knew something was up.
I’m still a little confused at what exactly happened in the end. I get the skull (I’m not even going to attempt to spell his Wesen name) guy’s intention. If he killed all of Nick’s loved ones then Nick would give him the stick, but when he decided not to-thanks to his Mom and Aunt- (which how heart warming was that. Nice to see Aunt Marie finish the show she started) I got a little lost. So that place they were in was still the other side or the hellish world Nick and Eve were in? Or was it a different one? Did they turn back or alter time? Didn’t really understand how taking off Adalind’s ring did anything to signify it wasn’t real and then she wasn’t wearing it in the “new reality.” But then Diana remembered… That through me off even more.
Despite being confused, I’m happy everyone survived and in a sense lived “happily ever after.” (It is a fairy tale after all, right?) I really enjoyed the jump to 20 years from now to see Kelly writing in the Grimm book about the story that just unfolded in front of us. It was cool to see how high-tech everything was, but that they were still in a trailer. Older Kelly looked like Nick and kind of sounded like him. I liked seeing Diana and how the two appear to be close siblings. (I was a little worried about that once she was introduced. She used to scare me, but I grew to really like her.) Loved how she said “Mom and Dad” wanted them, so she viewed Nick as her dad. awww. And the fact that they mentioned Nick and Rosalee’s triplets (who I wished we could have saw at some point of the season. It had seemed like it was pretty important at one point).
While I wished there was more of an epilogue, I am pretty satisfied with the series finale of Grimm. I’ll probably watch it a few more times to get less confused.
