While posting about gen-AI, I realized that Limitless Skies could potentially use some which I'm so not happy about.
Crossing my fingers that they don't but given the recent shifts in cdramas coming out this year using gen-AI doesn't make me too confident they won't, especially since this is a big production.

I have never been so invested in a drama (in recent years) than I had while watching this drama posted by Sakura Dramas. 😭
Terrible A-I generated thumbnail/images aside, the drama itself was so fun that I genuinely wished this was longer.
I wish I knew the official title but it's just reposted without the romanized title but still recommend it lol.

Again, what is up with cdramas this year and the use of (generated) AI??? Especially in their intros???
I didn't realize it at first since saw the drama on YouTube first (and the intros tend to be cut, probably for copyright) and low and behold, the intro was made using AI.
I was so excited and now a little bummed because you literally can just have anything but this and I would be fine with the intro. I'm still probably going to watch cause the premise looks really intriguing but just needed to rant a little because SSTTOOOPPP.
Okay, I love that Fan Yun, Li Yitong's character, and Goa Ran, Riley Wang's character, have a sibling dynamic since it perfectly reflected their character's relationship in ADWAD.
The blatant, and increased, use of gen-AI in variety shows this year is just so disappointing, especially with the big ones like Keep Running and Hello Saturday.
If you can afford to have mega-set designs and multiple high-quality costumes/outfits for a single 2-hour episode, then you can afford to hire artist to make visuals assets.
Because what is this???

^A blatant tell is the way the weird pausing between the scenes since the 1 scene, as created with gen-AI, usually end in a static image which they then have to put back into whatever prompt they used to "animate" it, like the book, the blacksmiths, and the pot. They just use transitions like dissolve to make it coherent but it's blaringly obvious if the art style wasn't already a tell. (This is literally the intro btw.)

^Again, a weird tell is that there is an awkward "pause" which they try to cover with a dissolve or cut transitions but it's so blatantly obvious.
(Like we see the camera "turn" but the background doesn't actually turn with her and then it cuts to another scene with white specs (which I thin is supposed to be the clouds) in the sky and it increased the saturation.)
It's just so disappointing because they do have artist. Like whenever they explain the games, they use hand-drawn assets (posted below) and it just shows that they can but are choosing not to. Like the hand-drawn graphics are so cute and are pleasing to look at.

This needs to be a whole rant but it's just super disappointing for a show that has now successfully reached 14 seasons. They were able to make a successful show without the use of gen-AI (which didn't exist then) which has been running for 14 seasons and are now cheap-ing out on graphics.

I meant to post this last week, so whoops! I felt like making this quick post since I already posted about Ashes to Crown (2026), and long story short, I'm going to put it to the side and watch it some other time because:
I've become busy, and;
Because that means I have to use my time wisely, I don't want to put so much of it into watching a drama I'm not super interested in.
I was excited at first but then slowly began losing interest which is so sad since I really wanted to support Chen Duling since she's a phenomenal actress but this drama's major problem for me is the pacing.
The romance feels a little rushed with not enough build-up. I would have actually liked a slower burn. I'm actually okay with them falling in love fast but it would have been better to be more subtle about it and pace out the scenes so it feels satisfying.
I may have some free time soon so I may just put it on in the background and finish it that way while I do something but yeah, I'm super sad I didn't like this one as much as I thought I would. I'll probably make another post about it after, so hopefully the pacing gets better.

Like, yay! No cold-stoic male-lead cause yuck! We're sick of nonchalant men in this house. And by we, I mean me, because it's the art of the yearn that I yearn for.
I really like the premise though that Chu Zhao vows to never marry or have a heir. I feel like this is the first time I'm seeing this in a cdrama where a female character vows not to do the thing that is often expected from them as protagonist.
This goes back to the comment I saw on a social media post being annoyed at this - but it really is something that is going against the grain. Having a woman character verbally state that she will not do the two things expected from women in society, being a wife and a mother, is pretty big.
The show also has hints of pointing out the sexism women face in regards to society but here's to see if they'll actually do anything with this point later on in the drama.
I think it also adds a lot of tension between the main pairing though given she says "as long as I hold it," and the slight spoiler I accidently got from a post, it's possible they may end up getting married anyway after she relinquishes the grand princess title.
I will say though, I love the cute little family dynamic happening with the crown prince. I think the shots are definitely intentionally done to make them look like the stereotypical idea of a family, even if just a found one.

This is also a lot more of a political drama than I was expecting it to be but I'm definitely continuing this drama!

One immeadite pro to Fangs of Fortune (2024) in comparison to Veil of Shadows (2026) is that there is no gen-AI in the intro.
This drama was announced back in 2020 but unfortunately there is no more information other than Zhu Xudan (Bambi Zhu) is the lead actress.
The cover got my attention and I immediately loved the description since it felt like it would be more goofy and light-hearted. I hope this gets filmed and produced but given there's no director listed on MyDramaList (and it's been 6 years), the chance is pretty slim.
