your artstyle is to DIE for, i adore the way you draw faces, especially noses and mouths. what part of the face do you start with while drawing, + do you use the loomis method or smth else?
Hell friend! Usually I start with the face shape, then I map out the features before defining them. I don't use any particular methods, though I try to concentrate on the shadows while creating the face.
I'll attach the SpeedPaint for my recent Jon pice here so you can see my process if that would help. It's pretty much the same every time when I draw in digital. I work on two layers usually (the lines/the render). This particular SpeedPaint is three minutes long but Ibis paint X has the horrible quality of randomly stopping mid SpeedPaint for a while before continuing the completion again, so don't fret if it stops randomly.
Content warning for flashing colors! (At some point I wanna see what his hair would look like white and that's just a lot of unimportant fiddling)
I put the line layer below the render layer use "Linear Burn" as the blending mode for the render layer. Here's what my layers look like:
Below are my two brushes that I use. I start the drawing with the round brush usually around 19% opacity. For the lighter features such as the cheekbones or mapping out the face or the blush I use the same brush anywhere from 5% opacity to 9%. As for the render brush I use it at full opacity!
Hope I could be of help!! 😊
