いよいよ今週builderscon開催に向けて説明会的なことをする予定なのですが、このbuilderscon説明する際、buildersconとYAPC::Asia Tokyoの関係性を気にされる方がたくさんいます。これは当然で、buildersconの首謀者であるlestrratこと牧はYAPC::Asia Tokyoスタッフから始めたのち主催になり、2015年までの合計10年間YAPC::Asia Tokyoに関わってきたからです。 まず、buildersconはYAPC::Asia Tokyoとは関係ありません。ですがYAPC::Asia Tokyoに感謝しつつ、学んだことを生かして行こうと思っています。

YAPC::Asia Tokyoは300人規模で当初始まりました。10年間続いたイベントは昨年2000人規模にまで広がり幕を閉じました。あまり公には知られていませんが、ほとんどが手弁当やボランティアスタッフにより支えられていたイベントです。

そうしたスタッフの熱意によって支えられたイベントのYAPC::Asia Tokyoがきっかけとなり、就職が決まったり、新しい仕事仲間が増えたり、新しい技術を習得したり、あこがれのエンジニアに会えたり、懐かしい顔に会えたりとYAPC::Asia Tokyoはここ10年の日本のウェブ・アプリ業界に対して一助になりえたと思います。

No promises yet, as we have no backing, no budget, no plans. Beacon (Builders Conference) is going to be conference for the modern world builders - the architects that build our services, our gadgets, our infrastructure, our future. If you are builder, you are welcome to present and/or participate.

In this day and age, we feel that a conference on a single technology is not enough: most things we build today are made with multiple technologies fused into one larger entity that works as a whole. We need to focus more on the bigger picture. Beacon aims to focus on the builders and the stuff they build, regardless of what they are made of.

We want to hear the builders talk about their projects. We want to learn from their mistakes. We want to see how they are going to shape the future. So come and join us: Talk about your newest apps, ground breaking infrastructure, new cool gadget, new methodology to make the builders’ life easier... Any topic from fellow builders are welcome, as long as they are about technology and/or interesting to the builders.

ひょっとしたら2017年にでも… 現時点ではやるかやらないかわかりません。サポートしてくれる団体、資金、プラン、全てがまだ未定の状態です。

Beacon (Builders Conference) は現代の「技術」を使いモノヅクリをする人々（Builders)のためのカンファレンスです。我々が使うサービス、ガジェット、インフラストラクチャー、そしてそれらによってもたらされる未来を作る人達のためのイベントです。もしあなたもBuilderなら是非登壇・参加していただきたいと思います。 近年作られる様々なモノはひとつの技術スタックだけで終結しているものはほとんどないと言えるでしょう。様々な技術を巧みにブレンドしそれらが有機的に協調することによってひとつの大きなモノが動くようになってきています。技術カンファレンスも同様にひとつのトピックに固執していくよりもう少し上のレイヤーにフォーカスしていくほうがよいのではないかと我々は考えています。Beaconはそのような現代のBuilder達が作るものやBuilder達自身に焦点をあてたカンファレンスです。
