hey so this is getting notes and id like to clarify angel dust is not meant to be a trans woman. thats not the point i was trying to make (but i understand how it came off that way). nonetheless, his portrayal is similar to the portrayal of trans women in popular culture as "sex obsessed drug addicted prostitutes".

at the very least, its a disgustingly homophobic portrayal of a gnc gay man, but id argue the "raunchy man in a dress" portrayal fits the bill of a transmisogynistic character as well. trans women are portrayed exactly like this in so many types of media and there is no way this is a coincidence

also like, i pretty much only know about angel dust's character and the radio dude, i didnt watch the pilot (just promotional stuff from way earlier which featured angel dust prominently, he's somehow a fan favorite). but from what I've seen, the humor in hazbin hotel relies HEAVILY on stereotypes of various sorts. it's shallow, badly-made, unfunny jokes. there's a latina lesbian character named "Vaggie" (yeah) who's personality is just being Super Angry At Small Things which somehow manages to be a racist AND lesbophobic stereotype.

anyway stop saying you can separate the art from the artist without any further thought, the creator's shit tends to seep into their art
