Microsoft XBOX 360 - DoDonPachi Saidaioujou
Title: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou / 怒首領蜂最大往生
Developer/Publisher: Cave
Release date: 30 May 2013
Catalogue No.: 7DU-00001
Genre: Vertical Shooter
DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou was the final original CAVE release before the shoot-em-up (shmup) masters let the credits roll on their one-credit clear run of genre-defining games. As a game tied to arcades and the Xbox 360, fans have clamored for the chance to see a broader, modern release. Thankfully, Livewire has heard the cries of the shmup crowd and has now re-released the title on the Nintendo Switch though if I remember right, the Switch release is digital-only.
DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou is a hardcore shmup title to its bones. If you’re new to the genre then this probably isn’t going to be the title that converts you; rather it’s a love letter to ship-flying, credit-popping, bomb-dropping gamers who love to hit the wall of Level 3 over and over again, maximizing those scores and using the smallest of windows to avoid colorful death.
The lack of an English translation beyond a few menus does a major disservice to this release, but as a whole, it is great to see such an obscure and highly sought title in a more convenient-to-purchase and-play package. It’s a game I’ll be returning to night after night trying to push ever closer to the mythos that is the one-credit clear true last boss which, much like this title, has never been more attainable.

Did you know that Cage Match is one of Johnny Cage's movies that he did himself? We could see this on MK Deadly Alliance 😎

Some wallpapers I did for the 3D era of Mortal Kombat, or at least my take on it.
The 3D era (Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon) have their fans and detractors. They are a drastic change from the Klassic 2D era, especially in terms of the gameplay, but I do respect it for further expanding the lore, even if some of the new ideas were better executed than others.
If I was in charge of the MK franchise circa the early 2000s, I would either continue the story by focusing on Liu Kang and Kitana's son, like John Tobias intended for MK5 (before it became Deadly Alliance), or I would indeed wipe the slate clean and start over with a brand new timeline, which is what they sort of did with MK9 as well as what they were going to do with MK8 before it became MK vs. DC.
That's all for now. More koming soon.
Childhood crush.
