So, on a more serious note, it's been two days since the Wicked Garden match; and I've already seen people spread clickbait articles about the Lily of the Valley bit and Jeff being stretchered out of the arena and treating it as real and that he needs to retire because of that moment. When it's obviously not.
Idk why, but this just pisses me off. Either people are illiterate about the storytelling or are just trying to spread lies and get a rise out of the fans who actually know two shits about the story and how scripted moments work, which seems more likely. You know artificial/fake flowers are a thing, right? Also, Lily of the Valley flowers don't work that fast. At maximum, it takes at least an hour or two before symptoms start arising from consumption. And the foaming at the mouth was clearly some sort of Alka seltzer tablet. As for the convulsions, that was just damn good acting on Jeff's part. And the match had actually been filmed back in May ahead of time, and it's been a week or two since this, so he's clearly fine.
Can't believe I actually gotta explain this to people, but here we go, I guess. đ
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO COME ON HERE AND MAKE A POST ABOUT THIS i swear people are getting more stupid by the day đ do we really thing that if the lily of the valley worked so fast and appeared so deadly , that they would have risked jeff â s health for it ? ? NO ! OBVIOUSLY NOT ! ! even after the act he put on , he got back up to fight more before disappearing with matt again at the end . if it wasn â t acting , he would have been taken away immediately , and none of that would have happened . . . let â s use our brains people !
Definitely. It tires me out sometimes, but I guess it's to be expected. Doesn't mean I'm not allowed to bitch and moan about it lol. đ
On a lighter note, now that I'm thinking about the storyline, I wonder if the Righteous have some supernatural powers of their own. When they debuted, they seemed like Evangelical Hipsters to me that just had a VERY unhealthy infatuation with the Hardyz (affectionately speaking of course; I adore them so much besides the Hardyz â¤ī¸) but now that the storyline has evolved, it makes me reconsider. Looking back on their previous Indie work, I know they kinda had a similiar gimmick to Bray Wyatt at the time (before the fiend) in the form of their grungy appearances, and I think they were actually considered to take part in the Wyatt Six at one point if they had signed with WWE, but that's neither here or there.
Anyway, it just makes me wonder; in the storyline with the Lily of the Valley, I wonder if it was tainted in some way to make it act in the body that quickly. Like maybe the Righteous are into those "natural" healing essential oils/herbs nonsense and make their own concoctions in their spare time. I wouldn't put it past them given their gimmick cult-like mannerisms and "purity". đ
But yeah, in all seriousness, it's ridiculous. And it's probably gonna get worse. đŽâđ¨
i am also sooooo curious about this omg . i always love how TNA executes more unrealistic / fiction - based storylines and gimmicks , so seeing the righteous either have some supernatural powers or some benefit like that from using cult practices would be SO cool .
and i know they were in contact with bray at some point outside of the ring ( i â m still getting familiar with their old in - ring work , so i canât speak much on if they had any stories together ) , but i have a photo of vincent and dutch with him that i found a little while ago while digging for good pictures of the righteous !
circling back to the righteous having powers or some magic abilities , one of my best friends and i have been theorizing together , and we think they may be trying to get someone supernatural on their side đ i â m a hugeee geek for willow the wisp , so this could totally be wishful thinking LMFAOO , but we were thinking they may try and get jeff to fall back into willow again . it worked once , but apparently it â wasn â t what they were expecting â , despite this , they said they would work with it and incorperate it into their plan .
we think he â s gonna try and get willow on his side . i have a video link from this ( <- linked ) tumblr post from the promo that was on TNA earlier before the wicked garden match . they overlayed a video of willow and his eye / mask on top of a video of jeff , and they also uploaded a â complete history of willow â video to youtube really recently , which i had my concerns about , but my best friend said they could have uploaded it for fans who don â t know the gimmick so well and need to learn more before jeff brings it back .
i personally think the righteous want matt and jeff to turn on each other . think about it : all versions of willow ( except for his one singular match in 2003 ) have either had a direct feud with matt , or displayed some issue with matt . vincent got willow to show up once , why not try and get him to come out again so they can not only turn him against matt , but also get him on their side . . .
either way , i hope to see either vincent or dutch with some more magic powers involved in their storyline , either through their own ways of obtaining them , or through getting someone else ( willow ) on their side !
Hey! No worries! You and me both! That's what makes analyzing wrestling storylines so fun. And ngl, I have almost never gotten so into a storyline like this before. I think the closest I got to it was Roman's heel turn back in 2020, but even then, I had kept to myself and haven't been so crazily obsessed about storylines as I am now. So feel free to geek out about this feud as much as you want. I'll be right there alongside you. đ
As for the whole Hardyz turning against each other thing, funnily enough, that was another thing I had been talking about for the past year or so. Basically, I want a brother vs brother feud, but in reverse with Jeff being the heel and Matt being the baby face, because as far as I remember, it was always Matt turning on Jeff, from their feud in 2009 to the BROKEN universe. I could be wrong about that, but it feels like something that hasn't been done before. And we've been LONG overdue for an official Jeff Hardy heel turn anyways, with the last one being his whole stint as the Anti-Christ of Professional Wrestling, which I also geek out about in a consistent basis despite understanding the absolutely horrendous booking at the time with the whole Immortal taking over TNA storyline. If you ask me, Jeff as a heel would've done much better if he had ruled TNA and stood on his own, rather than being the chosen leader of a corporate group, as there was definitely some good stuff in there even with the limitations. And if we want to mix kayfabe and reality and reluctantly take Jeff's recent injuries into account, both in-universe and not, it's the perfect fuel for him to eventually turn against everybody, including his own brother. Because after years upon years of pressure from the powers that be, his brother, and the fans, I wouldn't be surprised if one day he just has enough from everyone's B.S. and just snaps from the suffocation of it all, and turns on everybody in the process.
But that's admittedly more grounded rather than supernatural, and I've been harping for some sort of Jeff Hardy Antichrist resurrection for quite a while now, or at least a variation. But underneath the fan-girling, I can understand why he might not want to bring it back in an official capacity, cause we all know what happened that basically shot the entire gimmick dead. But not gonna dive into that.
And with Jeff teaming up with the Righteous; another thing I've been wanting. But I think it'd be more believable and less jarring if it's by clever manipulation from the Righteous and not joining entirely out of his own free will. I'm even currently working on a whole damn AU fic just on that premise alone. In very simple terms; the Righteous convince Jeff that he is being held back by the pressures of everything, with the biggest chain being his own brother, and needs to break free if he wants to truly evolve himself into true greatness like the Hardyz had been preaching. đ
But anyway, yeah. That's just my two cents. And now we can say we're even with me being autistic about Jeff as a heel, so it all balances out. đ
