Taehyung pressed his phone against his forehead and tapped the end button, letting his tears mix in with the rain falling from his chin. He reached behind him again, trying to jiggle the door of his dorm open for the thousandth time, but failing. The lack of success caused him to grow even angrier, stomping his feet on the ground, letting the splash of water hit his face, and breathing out another sob in the process.

At this point he didn’t care that he was locked out or that his members were out having fun without him, all he wanted in this world was to see you. He shook his phone in his hands, tapped your contact number one more time and let it dial.

But this time he wasn’t just going to hang up.

“Please leave your message after the tone.” The familiar, monotone voice suggested.

As you slept, legs tangled in the familiar white sheets and blankets, Taehyung’s eyes began to flutter open, fully away and fully engrossed in your presence. A smile crept up onto his face, looking at the way your face was pressed against the pillow and how your breaths were soft and quiet but still loud enough for him to hear. He reached out a finger, brushing away a strand of hair from your face, causing you to shift your position. “What,” You groaned as you covered your forehead with your arm.

Taehyung chuckled, moving his hand under his head. “I’m trying to be romantic here,” he joked, letting his smile rest between his cheeks.

You lazily laughed and turned back to him, your face still puffy from sleep, and even with your eyes halfway open, his smiling face was brighter than the sun beginning to peek through your window.

“Good mooooorning,” He sang, his head now propped up onto his fist. No matter how hard he tried, his smile would not leave his face. With pursed lips he looked down at you trying your best to look back at him.

You sleepily reached up your arms, inviting him to fall into them, which he did willingly, letting his arm snake around your neck as your wrapped your arms around his chest and buried your head into his shoulder. Taehyung sighed, looking down at you and wrapping a few strands of hair around his fingers.

“____?” He said, hush as a whisper. You hummed in response, barely aware of your own actions. “You know I’ll love you forever right? ......______?”

But when he looked down at you, you were fast asleep again.

Taehyung could almost hear himself sigh on the other end of the line, praying that maybe you were listening. Another tear left his eye when he realized you weren’t. “Hey...” He said, choking back sobs. “Listen, I know this is kind of ridiculous. I’m locked outside of the fucking dorm,” He swung his hand back to strike the door in anger once again. “It’s cold, and it’s raining. I don’t know what to do, nobody’s answering their phones.” Taehyung pauses for a moment, letting the silent sobs that were begging to come out free. “I just miss you, ______. I can’t do this anymore. Please talk to me...” He sat there for a moment, baffled in what he had done, but hung up the phone anyways, letting his mistakes begin to gather.

His head cradled in his hands as he sat there, letting more drops of rain fall down his chin along with the salty tears. His entire body was soaking wet now, not leaving a single trace of dry skin behind.

With stumbling legs he stood up from his position, staring at the phone in his hands, praying that a response would shine through it, but instead, he was greeted with the flashing of his screen. “No,” He breathed, hitting it against his hand to hopefully regain it’s spark, but it was no use. The water had already soaked into the battery, sparking in his hand, causing him to drop it onto the ground to dodge the shock. Taehyung pressed his teeth together in complete disbelief.

As the phone stuttered below him, Taehyung kicked his foot against the pavement, causing the phone to fly to the street, and soon followed by the sound of a car blazing by.

He let out more sobs, realizing that he was now stranded without a key or a phone, and the cold air was now beginning to consume him.

A few minutes passed and Taehyung was now sitting back on the ground, craddling his arms in his hands, and letting his head rest on his knees. Anytime now his members would be back, he thought, as he chattered his teeth together and let his knees tremble.

The sound of footsteps splashing against the puddles on the pavement was heard from across the way, causing Taehyung to freeze in his position. As much as he needed the attention from someone, he wasn’t at all ready for it.

“Taehyung!” A familiar voice shouted in the distance. He looked up, not believing what he heard when he saw a silhouette now growing closer to him.

His eyes widened when he saw you running towards him, his raincoat in hand and a distressed look on your face. “What the hell are you doing?” You shouted over the rain, and once you reached him, you noticed the frightened look in his eyes as you stared at you.

You didn’t think he knew what he was doing either.

As time passed by you, you found yourself alone, this time wrapped in the arms of your own blanket. You lifted your head and scanned around your room, but Taehyung was nowhere to be found.

Once you let yourself wake up a bit more, the sound of footsteps allowed you to sigh in relief.

You threw the blanket away from your body and got up from your bed, and after letting yourself stretch a bit, you left through your door, noticing Taehyung standing at the bar of your kitchen, back facing you, with his headphones in his ears.

You tiptoed behind him, and once you were close enough to reach, you wrapped your arms around his back, causing him to jump a bit and remove his headphones from his ears.

“I love you too,” You said into the shoulder you were resting your head on. “Forever and always.”

After a series of shouts of questions over the pounding of the rain, Taehyung still remained silent, staring at his shoes and letting out the smallest sobs.

Soon enough he was safe in your apartment, wrapped in a blanket and dressed in clothes that he’d forgotten he’d left there. You placed a mug full of that familiar hot chocolate that he’d loved in front of him, without realizing what it would do to him. He looked down at it, barely moving any muscles before looking back up at you, looking bitterly into your eyes, still saying nothing.

You stared back at him, eyebrows pressed together. Soon enough you broke your stare and sat down across from him. “You can’t keep doing this, Taehyung,” You said quietly, looking down at the mug you placed in front of you as well.

Taehyung swallowed hard and placed his hands around the warm, soothing mug. “I’m sorry,” He whispered. “I just didn’t know what else to do.”

You looked down at his hands, noticing the tightly wrapped gause around his knunckles and the red peaking through them. “What happened to your hand?” You asked as you stood over the table to grab it and examine it.

“Nothing,” Taehyung said, almost immediately as he attempted to retreat his hand. You swung your hand forward, grabbing it before it could get too far.

The realization that Taehyung wasn’t okay consumed you as you looked down at his knuckles, the blood peaking through the bandages, the dark shadows under his eyes, his rain soaked hair...It was then that the tears started to un-willingingly stream down your face as well, falling to the floor as you continued to stare blankly at his fingers--eyes blurry and out of focus.

You pushed his hand away and turned your back, unapologetically crying beside him. “Goddamnit, Taehyung,” You let out through muffled sobs. “I’m so worried about you.”

Taehyung breathed in, feeling the tremble of his lips creep back up on him. “I-I’m fine,” He said, looking at his hands.

You shook your head and turned around to him. “This is fine?” You raised your voice, noticing him tense up and breathe in hard again.

Taehyung gripped his fingers into his fist, trying so hard to hold back his tears, but inevitably watching them fall to the table instead. “You said you’d always love me,” He blurted out, this time not holding back. “You said you would never leave, no matter how hard things were.”

“I never promised anything!” You exclaimed, frozen in your position, completely unprepared for this type of conversation.

Taehyung lifted his head, eyes red and puffy, mouth open and trembling. “I was going to be with you forever...” Taehyung let his head fall. “I don’t know how this is so easy for you.”

You lifted your hand to your mouth, barely believing what you had heard. “You think this is easy for me?” You were yelling this time, causing Taehyung to freeze. Neither of you were ready for this. No matter how much Taehyung wanted to see you he couldn’t bare having this conversation, and no matter how much you regretted your decision to leave him, you weren’t sure if you could ever go back. “You think I wanted to break up with you? Like this is all a joke? Like none of this ever mattered to me?” You fell into the chair in front of you, propping your elbow up to support your heavy head. Taehyung looked over at you through the wet hair plastered onto his forehead, not even reflecting someone close to himself. “I still love you Taehyung,” You breathed. “I always will....but we can’t do this.”

This was it. Taehyung was a complete mess at this point--letting his head fall into his arms in front of him, letting his tears gather into a pool under his face. It would’ve been easier to just stop loving each other--kill the fire instead of slowly fading out. But he couldn’t do it. You couldn’t do it, either. It was as if seeing each other again was adding gasoline to the fire.

“You can stay here tonight. I’ll sleep on the couch, you can have my bed.”

Taehyung lifted his head, wiping away the cold streams beginning to dry on his face. “But it’s your house.”

“You almost died of hypothermia, I can manage sleeping on the couch for one night.” You mimicked him, realizing the tears on your face were beginning to leak the makeup on your eyes onto your cheeks. All at once, everything became overwhelming. “Excuse me,” You said, and pushed yourself away from the table. You quickly paced over to the room closest to you let the door slam behind you.

You ducked into the aisle next to you, realizing this boy was now heading in the direction of your previous location. People out of the ordinary never came to this library--it was always the same college students and the same older people that made this stop as part of their daily routine. 

The boy shook his hair out of his eyes and bent over to look at the selection of books in front of him, and you peaked your head through the shelves to hopefully catch a glimpse. Everything about him screamed “too good to be here” as he carefully grazed his finger over the books one by one and sighed. What was he looking for? Could you help him find something? I mean, it looks like you work here, right? 

When you turned your head away, you were immediately welcomed by a loud thump, followed by the rattling of books “OW-” You heard yelping besides you, but then a breath in. The voice was immediately lowered by the following of multiple shushing noises. 

You looked back over to see the boy now cupping his head and hiding his face. He shook his hair away from his eyes (again), and leaned back over, this time with caution. He reached out his hand to grab a book that caught his eye, but then stepped backward when multiple ones began to fall. The entire library was starring at him at this point. 

You tiptoed over to the isle he was standing in and crouched over to grab a book on the floor, causing him to jump back a bit. “Sorry,” You whispered, chuckling quietly. “I just thought you might want some help.” 

He laughed along as well, reaching up to set the books back in it’s place, and reaching over to grab the one from your hand. “Thanks,” He said aloud, but then took a breath in to lower his voice. “I mean, thanks.”

I’m working on the taehyung fic that i’ve been writing right now!! you’re in for a ride friends

He shook his head back and forth, barely beginning to regain consciousness and the awareness that his friend beside him now had his arm around his shoulders. “Excuse me,” he croaked, releasing Jimin’s grip from his shoulder and lifted himself from his seat. He slowly released himself from the back of the seat, letting off one finger at a time, but barely made it on his feet before catching them from falling.

“Dude...are you okay?” Jungkook asked loudly so the whole bowling alley could hear.

But Taehyung couldn’t.

“I’m not following you!” You stated, stomping your feet and shoving away his hands from your wrists. You had only just met this boy and he was already acting so personal--accusing you of ridiculous things and grabbing you by the wrists. You could’ve sworn you were insane for not running away right then and there, but something kept you planted.

Taehyung chuckled after wiping away the smirk on his lips. “I’m sorry,” He said as he lifted up his hand to rub the back of his neck. “I just didn’t get your name, that’s all.”

It was so long ago now. That lonely bus stop. Taehyung hadn’t even stepped foot there after that day he met you--realizing it was unnecessary to visit such a dark, gloomy piece of construction. He would always take the extra mileage to walk so that he could catch a glimpse of your apartment complex, wondering if you were there and wondering what it would be like to be there with you. It wasn’t long after he’d find out.

“I’m Taehyung, I didn’t scare you did I?”

You brushed your skirt back into place and shook your hair out of your face. “I don’t know,” You said with a false sense of confidence. “Were you trying to scare me?”

Taehyung chuckled once again and let his head fall forward. “No, I just wanted to talk to you.”

As Taehyung sadly attempted to excuse himself to the bathroom, each of the boys turned in unison to look at him, leaving a few seconds of silence before saying anything.

“Is he okay?” Hoseok asked.

“I think something happened with _______.” Namjoon stated.

“We shouldn’t bother him.” Seokjin chimed in.

One step at a time on the crooked pathway in front of him, he reached the old, beat up bathroom--the only place he could be alone at that point. When he reached the sink, he couldn’t bare to look at himself in the mirror. His eyes were dark and gloomy, his hair was messy and ratted from pulling on it so much, and his expression was emotionless. He leaned over to turn on the sink and splashed cold water in his face in attempts to wake himself up, but nothing could’ve worked at this point.

He held his head down and stumbled over to the paper towel machine, and after he wiped off the cold beads of water dripping down his chin, he accidentally caught his reflection.

“I just think that this isn’t a good idea anymore,” You said through your teeth, not being able to look at him, and hardly being able to stand in your position.

Taehyung froze, leaving his jaw open wide, eyes now red from crying. “Stop, you don’t know what you’re saying.” He insisted, his voice shaking in the process.

You let the tears fall down from your cheek as you reached up to your head, grabbing your hair and pressing your temples in order to release the pain now forming in your head. It wasn’t fun anymore. As much as you loved him you couldn’t handle being with him. It had to end at this point.

Taehyung froze in the presence of his reflection on the dull, scratched metal in front of him. Time ceased to exist.

“Please!” Taehyung cried loud enough for the entire apartment complex to hear him. “You can’t do this!”

You let yourself cry as you continued to stare at the floor.

“I’m in love with you,”

No response.

“You can’t just throw it all away like this!”

“You should go,” You finally said, your hand still pressed against your temples.

“I can’t just leave!”

“Taehyung, please…”

“Taehyung!”

A voice shot through his ears in attempts to interrupt Taehyung’s disassociation. He was breathing heavy, his hand clutched into a fist.

He looked down at his hand after feeling a cold sensation. Streams of red were pulsing from his knuckles, and when he looked back up at his dreaded reflection in the now beaten and broken paper towel dispenser, he realized he was crying.

Jimin grabbed the remaining paper towels in the dispenser and ran them under the sink. He ran back over to Taehyung and pressed them onto his tattered knuckles. “What the hell is going on?” He question, breath heavy and voice filled with panic.

Taehyung shook his head, letting himself cry in front of his best friend. “I love her,” He croaks through choked back sobs.

Jimin stared at him in confusion as Taehyung stood there as well, letting the tears fall and his mouth hang open in complete and utter shock.

As he stood there, a puddle of tears and blood forming at his feet, he then realized that he couldn’t go on like this. That love doesn’t just end that easily. That he needed to learn to let people go in order to continue on with his life.

This wasn’t even Taehyung anymore.

DUN...DUN....DUN

a few announcments about this fic: one, i’m doing it out of order. as we’ve discussed before i suck at writing things in sequence, and i have a lot of trouble writing when i’m not fully inspired. this will all play out in a bit, but just enjoy this angst for a second, okay? two, if the writing style is a bit confusing, please let me know! i wrote it all scattered all over the place on purpose but please tell me if it just...isn’t working (but be nice about it thanks) 

anyways, that’s all i have for you today!! part 3 will be out soon!! (how many parts are in this fic in the first place?? idk,,i just know there’s a shit ton) 

You just sat there, tense in your shoulders as Taehyung didn’t say a word. He didn’t know what to say--so much has happened in the past few months that he didn’t even know where to begin. And were you even willing to listen anymore? It was amazing how you could spend so much time with someone and one point in your life to find that they’re a stranger when you revisit them. 

Taehyung tapped his fingers together and shook his hair. Maybe if he made enough movements than you would work up the nerve to speak to him. 

“Let’s go somewhere,” You spoke quietly, still staring ahead of you. 

Taehyung’s head perked up and looked your direction. “Everything is closed right now, where would we possibly go?” 

You looked down at your feet and lifted yourself from your position. “I’ll figure it out.” 

You grabbed your limp coat resting on the chair of the kitchen table and slipped it over your shoulders. Taehyung hesitantly stood up as well, confused as to how impulsive you were being. But at least it had potential to break the tension.

For once in his life, Taehyung didn’t say a word. As you both walked along the cold, wet pavement, the silence overpowered you both more than anything else--not even the cold, breeze or the small droplets of snow beginning to form was more intense than your silence. 

“Where are we going?” Taehyung finally asked, still confused about the situation. 

You shrugged your shoulders, leaving absolutely no explanation. Taehyung knew something was very obviously wrong. Your face basically screamed it. 

You were never one to let people see you cry, and today was not going to be the day that it happened. You lifted your hood above your head to hopefully create a barriar from Taehyung’s vision and your face, now turning red from forcing back sobs.

After a few moments walking in silence, something halted you in your tracks. A big, red, brick building rudely shot through your vision, and the soft lull of a lamp was shown through that familiar window on the forth floor. Taehyung, reluctantly, stopped as well, trying to mimic looking at the same spot you were staring at. 

It wasn’t until then that he realized, that maybe, something was going wrong with...that guy. “____?” He asked, carefully laying a hand on your shoulder in the process.

Your face grew wearier and wearier, and the slight touch of Taehyung’s hand nearly broke you into a panic. You flinched, which caused him to avert his hand. For the first time in the course of your relationship, Taehyung had absolutely no idea how to help you. 

You let your head fall down to the floor, causing the dreaded tears to drop to the already soaked concrete. “It’s over,” you said suddenly, your voice cracking in the process. “He likes someone else, and didn’t bother to tell me.” 

Taehyung’s eyes grew wide, looking up at the glow of the lamp and then back at you. Something in him grew extremely angry, seeing you this hurt and knowing that that asshole was calmly resting in his apartment. But he held back. He didn’t want to make the tension any worse for you, since the situation was already as bad as it could be. 

Finally, you let your tears fall freely, realizing there was no point in hiding it anymore. Taehyung already knew what was happening. 

Taehyung pursed his lips together, “I’m sorry,” He whispered, hardly being able to look at you. Immediately he collected himself and snaked his arms around your shoulders. 

You froze, not expecting that sort of gesture. But soon enough, you found yourself wrapped around him, head pressed into his shoulder, letting the tears fall and soak into his shirt. As you made a mental note to apologize about that later, you realized that maybe this was exactly where you were supposed to be.

After a few moments, Taehyung chuckled a bit. “Hey, _____,” He said. You hummed in response. “Don’t feel too bad, I mean, he wasn’t much of a looker anyways. You can do so much better.” 

You laughed through sobs and nuzzled your chin into the nape of his neck, still unable to let go of him. “You’re right,” You said, sighing in relief. “I can.”

sorry about the abrupt ending. I didn’t know how to end it without it being too extremely cheesy or just drag out for years. So here you go anon!! Hope you liked it!!

Why on earth did he say that? It’s not as if it was true. How could one small lie diminish the times he’d spent with you–the times his face would turn beat red at the sound of his name leaving your lips, how he would lay in bed wondering what you were doing and how you were doing…and all this time he would still deny it. He would still deny how soft your presence was and how carelessly happy you would make him feel. 

He pressed his fist up to his forehead, hoping to turn the corner and see you standing there. But it was too late–you had already made your way out, tears welling up in your eyes at the mere remembrance of how easily he brushed off the time you had spent. Maybe you were just extremely naive, and maybe there was nothing there to begin with. Maybe you needed to just learn to let it go.

But Jungkook wasn’t going to let it go. Joking around with his members isn’t going to change the way he felt about you. He just wished that he didn’t begin to feel it until it was too late.

A few days passed and you were pacing around your room with an open textbook resting in your hand. As you spoke aloud to the words on the page in order to pound it in your head before your exam, you almost forgot how Jungkook made you feel that day. It was never easy to let things go this quickly, but Jungkook meant too much to you to let it affect you this much. Even if it meant that you had to repress the way you felt, overall you didn’t want to lose him.

You began the next sentence on the page when you heard a knock on your door. 

Your head shot up from the page to stare at the door facing you. Who the hell is it and what the hell do they want? You thought, slamming your textbook shut and stomping over to the door. What was so important that it would break your concentration before an exam? 

You reached the door and lifted yourself onto your tiptoes to look into the hole that was barely too high for you to reach. 

Jungkook stood there, his figure distorted due to the round of the glass. 

Your breath caught in your throat when you realized it was him. Your hand quickly shot up to your mouth, trying not to make a sound. 

“I can hear you, you know,” He says through a sigh. 

You shook your head, hand still pressed against your lips. Why was he here in the first place? It’s not like you were even close to being ready to face him at this point. 

“Can I just talk to you for a minute?” 

You sighed and let your head rest on the door. There was no way in hell you were answering it as those familiar tears made their comeback. 

Jungkook sighed and leaned up against the wall of your door, letting himself slide down it as he (im)patiently waited for you to answer. “Listen, if you’re not going to answer the door, could you at least give me some assurance that you’re listening?” 

A few seconds passed until you curled your hand into a fist. This was the best you could do. 

Knock knock knock. 

Jungkook averted his ear to the knocking and let out a breath of relief. “Okay..good. Listen, I know I was harsh back there, but I just want you to know that I didn’t mean what I said. I…really care about you. You know that.” He raised one of his eyebrows. “You do know that right?” 

You sighed silently with your head still pressed against the door. You couldn’t bring yourself to knock in assurance at him, because you still felt like you didn’t know. If he cared about you so much then why would he say that? 

Jungkook shook his head and let it fall back on the door, leaving a slight thumping sound. “I know it’s hard for you to believe me, but I do have feelings for you. I didn’t realize that until I saw you walking away…” Jungkook paused for a minute, causing you to lift your head in confusion from the door. “Just, the thought of never seeing you again scares me. Will you please just open the door?” 

Your hand immediately led to the doorknob but you stopped yourself. Once you opened that door you would be forced to face your problems, and face him. 

“Please?”

You sighed and slowly turned the doorknob, causing Jungkook to scramble himself up from his spot. You creaked open the door, barely letting yourself be seen as you inched it open. 

Jungkook searched desperately for your face as the door opened, and when you appeared in his vision, his knees felt like they were going to crumble beneath him. He then realized that he went into this without any sort of game plan. 

You pursed your lips into the smallest smile, fighting back the tears begging to escape the corners of your eyes. Jungkook stood there, frozen. “I…” He started but then chuckled awkwardly. “I wasn’t expecting you to answer.” 

You chuckled as well at his attempts to lighten the conversation which led him to laugh along with you. In the process the tears suddenly began to leave your eyes, causing you to step back in embarrassment. 

Jungkook smiled softly and stepped forward. You held down your head to hide the fact that you were crying, but nothing was fooling him at this point. He reached two fingers up to your chin to lift your face and look at his concerned look on his face. “Why are you crying?” He asks quietly. 

You shake your head, attempting to laugh in the process. “This is embarrassing,” You barely let out, causing Jungkook to laugh as well. 

His hand moved over to cup your cheek and wipe away the stream of the tears with his thumb. When you looked up at him, eyes red and puffy, he continued to smile sweetly down at you. He was nearly inches away from your face now, causing your breath to, once again, catch in your throat. 

Jungkook chuckled once again, trying to ease the tension of the situation. You mimicked him, beginning to feel much more comfortable and accepting as he moved his face closer towards yours. It wasn’t long after that that his lips pressed against yours. After a few seconds, he pulled away quickly and shot you that bright smile of his 

“Smooth one, Jungkook,” You said poking his cheek, causing him to playfully back away from you and giggle. “Very smooth.”

DONT….MAKE ME…..LIKE…..JUNGKOOK…..THIS ISNT…..OKAY

It was always far too late when you had reached this destination. The cold, brisk air of winter in Seoul would always dance across your fragile arms that lain beneath a perfectly pressed peacoat, desperate for warmth and desperate for the luck that the busses would still run this late. As you began to drag your heavy feet toward the bus stop, you lifted your watch towards your face--glistening in the glow of the streetlights.

11:55 pm. It was near impossible that you would make it now, knowing that the last bus always stopped at 12 and the bus driver didn’t seem to like the fact that you would always halt him from leaving because every damn night he found you running desperately from across the street--swinging and flailing your arms, yelling pathetic pleas for him to wait.

Maybe there was a new bus driver, or maybe the regular one was having a bad day, but as you dragged your platform shoes across the cold, icy pavement, and felt your toes turn to frozen stubs inside them, the bus driver decided that he wasn’t feeling so nice today.

The large, blue, box of a bus raced passed you, causing you to gasp a bit before picking up your pace. He’ll wait for me, you thought to yourself, he always does. But as soon as these thoughts peaked to the forefront of your mind, he rolled past the stop, leaving a trail of exhaust to soon reach your breath and sink down into your lungs.

“Wait!” You shouted, attempting at the pleas that he would always fall for. But it was too late. He was already racing by and you were left slipping along the pavement, coat falling off your shoulders and your jaw now at your feet.

As you stared, wide-eyed at the bus as it raced away from you, you could almost hear the streets of Seoul laughing underneath you--tainting your luck and your chances of ever finding a ride home at this hour. A loud, exaggerated sigh left your lips as you slumped your shoulders in defeat and sat down at the old, creaky bench below you, begging for an answer.

But instead of answers, a distant humming noise graced your ears--the humming of a low, smooth voice resembled the sound of an angel choir (as cheesy as it sounds). You lifted your head to detect the source of the humming when the figure of a tall, lanky, teenage boy with a hood over his head and long, basketball shorts covering his knees was shown through your vision, and it was now moving closer towards you.

You quickly shifted your head to face in front of you, creating the illusion of apathy as the boy began to sit down on the opposite end of the bench. Clearly, the next bus wasn’t coming, and clearly, the boy didn’t know this. It was almost sad to see him swing a headphone dangerously close to his face and his mouth pursed into the smallest grin as he hummed along to whatever song he was listening to.

If I don’t say anything, karma is going to hit me worse than it already has.

You shifted your eyes back to look at him staring down at his tapping feet. He didn’t look too unapproachable--his eyes were big and sparkly and his expression showed that he could very well be content with his situation. After a few minutes of pondering and examining the stranger, you opened your mouth to speak.

“There’s no more buses,” You let out, almost as hush as a whisper. This caused his eyes to quickly move forward, almost flinching in the process.

After a few seconds of silence, and a prolonged stare at the street in front of him that felt like it went on for centuries, the boy sighed. “Oh,” He said quickly. “Guess I’m walking.”

He lifted himself from his seat and stood on top of his bulky shoes and began walking away, still swinging a headphone between his fingers, but this time, dangerously close to your face.

You jut your head back, dodging the spinning death trap that you could almost feel graze the side of your cheek. Jeez.

It was then that you realized that this boy had the right idea--there was no use in sitting there and freezing your ass off any longer. It was time to start walking if you were ever going to get any sleep tonight.

So you did. With your head tucked into the big, knitted scarf around your neck and your hands placed forcefully into your pockets, you trudged along the sidewalk into the direction of your apartment. Walking wasn’t always so bad to you--it gave you time to collect the swirling thoughts from work and school, the thoughts that would keep you up at night and cause you to stress yourself out during the day. You shifted back and forth from sorting out your priorities from school--which test was coming up soon and which design you had to finish. Next was work--what paperwork needed to be finished and when your next meeting was. Organizing your thoughts was surprisingly calming as you stared down at your feet and tried to prevent yourself from sliding along the ice under your heels. Everything all came into place until..

Smack.

Immediately your face was crashing into a large, grey sweatshirt covering the hard chest of the person in front of you. You yelped and reached your arms out to your sides, trying desperately to regain your balance until the person reached out their hands to grab you by the shoulders and plant you in place. When you looked up to identify the statue of a person in front of you, you were greeted with the familiar shiny brown eyes and light, whispy hair covered by the hood of an oversized sweatshirt.

“Are you following me?” He asked, a smug grin placed between his cheeks. 

alright friends! that’s it for now. time to get some sleep since i wake up extremely early tomorrow. hope you enjoyed!!

after a fit of spinning circles and exaggerated yells you found your back in the sand, with nothing protecting you but the clothes on your back. beside the fact that there were grains of sand festering into your hair, and the inevitable itching feeling poking into your back, you were happy. taehyung spread out his arms, nearly hitting you in the process of making sand angels. 

you sucked in a breath of salty air and taehyung did the same, mimicking you in attempts to feel the same way you had in that moment--calm, collected, and happy. you could feel his aura radiating next to you as you stared up at the seagulls soaring and making shadows in the sun and realized that maybe this was the way it was supposed to be. 

“It’s pretty,” you hear his low voice beside you which causes you to turn your head slightly toward his direction. his eyes were closed, chin pointed high to the sky. you wondered what it could’ve been that he thought was so pretty with his eyes closed, but you decided that maybe that was the point. 

you sighed, lifted yourself up and shook the sand out of your hair. when you looked down at taehyung you saw him still sprawled, eyes closed, with an arm over his forehead. he poked an eye open to look up at the shadow covering his sunlight.

he lifted himself up as well and stretched his arms out in front of him. the grains of sand remained on his poor head which made you laugh and reach up your hand to rustled them out. his head rocked back and forth as if you were giving him a massage. 

it’s not like you could remember what brought you here in the first place. whether it was the impulsiveness brought on by the mass amounts of coffee you had drank that morning or the fact that you both needed to get away for a minute. taehyung was busy with promotions and you were so busy with school that it felt as if there was no time to take a breath and relax without running late for the next priority.

“let’s just go somewhere,” taehyung said abruptly through mouthfuls of cereal. “i mean, what have we got to lose?” 

“uh, our careers?” you stated, very obviously not buying what he’s selling. 

“when was the last time you just...forgot about all that?” 

you laughed and shook your head. “i can’t afford to do that.” 

“neither can i,” taehyung says, shoving another spoonful of cereal in his mouth. “but i’m willing.” 

you don’t know how he convinced you to do it. but you did it. the rest didn’t matter after that. all you knew was that you had an expired bus ticket in your pocket, sand in places where it shouldn’t be, and taehyung by your side taking it all in.

it wasn’t long until night fell, leaving you both bundling up in the very few layers and a dimmly lit fire that taehyung claimed he could build himself but oh my god it keeps going out and it’s freezing. 

“ok, i’ve had my adventure. can i go home now?” you say through chattered teeth nearly breaking in your mouth. you desperately held your hand out in front of the spark of a fire in front of you, nearly begging for warmth and for taehyung to give up. but he wasn’t this time. 

“no,” he said, closely examining the fire. taehyung had been at it for almost an hour now, poking and blowing on a hopeless flame that wouldn’t burst even if you poured tons of gasoline on it. “what do you have against spending time with me?”

you rolled your eyes. taehyung would always pull the defensive card when it was an advantage to him--something you had to deal with constantly when spending time with him, and therefore, being friends with him in the first place. “i don’t, but...goddamnit taehyung i’m fucking cold.” 

taehyung sighed into the fire, this time giving up on creating a spark. he turned himself around to sit on the log you were residing on, crossing his arms across his chest to hopefully gain some sort of warmth. “i’m sorry,” he says genuinely, his chin tucked into his chest.

what would you expect? taehyung would never crack easily under the demands of someone else. he would always find a way to distract you from your requests and continue what you had been doing, forcing you to spend more and more time with him until you were physically unable to. he would draw out every conversation, bring up any icebreaker in order to get you talking again or make you laugh. 

but this time he was quiet. he didn’t have anything to say in that scattered brain of his. instead he let his head fall onto the surface of your shoulder, and let out a puff of air that became visible in front of you. 

and you started to think that that’s what you knew that he needed you. that maybe all those drawn out conversations were led on so long for a reason--that all his desperate attempts to escape from reality was because he wanted to be next to you. 

you snaked your arm around his back and pulled him in closer, enveloping his warm presence, and causing his cheeks to glow red, radiating the same kind of warmth that he had been longing for this entire time.
