Gather round people, I’m gonna tell you a story
This tale will be dark in its own form of glory
And by the end of it I hope that you will understand
That this is all true and happens all over our land
In a small town there was a little happy home
A brother and a sister who never felt alone
Every time they laughed their parents’ smiles shone
But as time went by things started to crawl and to roam
Their lives started to tear up slowly at the seams
Tiny little children who held onto their dreams
Neither knew what happened or what it had meant
They just had fun together, glad for the time they spent
Then one day the brother grew distant and afar
The tiny little sister didn’t know a thing at all
She felt so forgotten, so meaningless and small
Realized things aren’t always the way she thinks they are
Her parents only ever wanted to protect her
From all of the hurt in the world that could neglect her
They knew her kind heart was too fragile to be bruised
And that she could one day end up being used
Time started running and after a while
The only thing that’s left was the shadow of a smile
It was as though the world had put her on a trail
Forcing her to see that those she loved were truly vile
She became a pawn in the bullies’ mean game
Deciding with her kind heart that she could take the pain
So that no one she knew would have to do the same
Even though there was nothing there to gain
Poor little girl took her friends and family for granted
Never thought things would end up the way they happened
Her dad found a new woman and her mom a new man
None of these things were meant to happen in her plan
Years began moving and her family it grew
Now she only wished that she’d had a clue
That one of her six siblings would end up being so cruel
Now she’s crying in the dark, feeling like such a fool
Now this little starlight was forced to see the darkness
Forced to accept that the world could be so heartless
Somebody she once loved wished to end her father’s life
Scared of being hurt she carried around a knife
In the town she lived in she quickly grew afraid
Then something there it changed and made her feel betrayed
Her siblings needed help, but no matter what mom paid
The people that they needed did nothing to their aid
Her eldest little sister had no teachers that could help her
Her only little brother got bullied and had no protector
The youngest girl she ended up feeling all forgotten
Her big brother had work and she herself felt rotten
That little sweet girl who once lived there in town
Used to be an angel, but now she has fallen down
Clenched her fist tighter, her chest burning in rage
Wisdom comes with age, now she knows she’s in a cage
There once was a girl and she almost always smiled
But the world it was cruel and her anger it got piled
When it comes crashing down her heart it gets riled
The little mild girl has grown up to be a wild child
Now she has thicker skin, but don’t get her wrong
She only got colder ‘cause she needed to be strong
Her heart burns with passion ‘cause she loves them all along
She wants to protect those she can trust herself among
She looks out for her family, from another society
There are scholars, there are gangs and that is her reality
Her Aunt’s a teacher, Uncle’s in jail, her brother is always far away
One’s perfect, one did drugs, but she loves them anyway
She has learned the tough way not all people can be trusted
Like the people in charge and that makes her disgusted
Those upper crusts don’t see what happens down the street
She takes it upon herself to get her friends back on their feet
Can’t they see what it means? We are not machines
A perfect society is just a bunch of hopeless dreams
Maybe there are people fitting better in than some
But don’t call those who don’t fit in a bag of scum
See the bigger picture, there are people out there dying
While the focus is on people that are deceiving and lying
Stand up for those in need, they need to know we’re trying
Let them know we care and here if they’re crying
The moral of the story is to take charge of your life
And to help others do the same so that they don’t have to strife
It’s to prepare for the worst but to hope for the best
To be able to let go of the fear inside your chest
The moment that broke down that sweet little girl
Was the moment she faced the true evils of her world
An angel lost her wings, but instead she learned how to run
She’s braver and she’s bolder from the things she’s overcome
