Here are some of the portraits I drew at āNoodles and Doodlesā by Menma Ramen w/ my pal Youbyun last Sunday. As you may know, I love drawing people and often times I have to draw secretly in case they donāt want to be drawnā¦So this event was a heaven to me as I was able to draw people who were happy to be drawn! :) Great atmosphere, great people, great friend and great ramensā¦It was just great night! Thanks for letting me draw you!
UT Arlington - Chi Birmingham
This was a fun one for a story in āUniversity of TechnologyĀ Arlingtonā magazine about their Bio Engineering program. Iāll be on the lookout for more excuses to draw pipes and control room displays. Thanks to Brody Price for the assignment!
NY Times - Chi Birmingham
I got the chance to do this little illustration for the Sunday Styles section of the NY Times this week. This was for a story on a few websites that are trying to capitalize on the hollywood rumor mill. Ā A big thanks to Barbara Richer for the great assignment!

This week marked the end of my year long run as weekly contributor for Joe Sharkeyās āOn The Road.ā These last two spots were for stories on the TSAās response to potential āphone bombers,ā and the liability issues for companies whose employees are killed during business travel. A huge thanks to Bob Goetz and Joe Sharkey for the great opportunity!Ā

A new illustration for a NY Times story on the advantages (and perhaps the necessity) of selling alcohol on long flights. Thanks to Bob Goetz for the assignment!Ā
I had a great opportunity to work on this fun assignment recently for Washington Post Express Weekend Pass Sectionā¦Hope you like it! Thanks for looking.Ā
Here's a new double spread for the May 2014 issue of Fast Company. This piece was soooo great to illustrate. Getting to workĀ withĀ Fast Company has been on myĀ bucket list for a longĀ time and so when I was asked by ADĀ Alice Alves to work on this project with her andĀ Associate AD JuliaĀ KnetzerĀ I was super excited. Alice and Julia gave me tons of freedom to kind ofĀ run wild with characters and color.Ā The concept was to create an image that spoke to the idea of ChineseĀ tech startup Tencent being the new kid on the social mediaĀ block. And this block has some fierce competition with Amazon, Google, Twitter, and Facebook already being well established in the neighborhood.Ā

I had some fun with this one for the Wall Street Journal this week. The illustration was for a story about a new website that is trying toĀ market antiques to a younger demographic. Thanks to Christian Drury for the great assignment!

For this weekās āOn The Roadā Joe Sharkey writes about this winterās record number of weather related flight cancelations (it is quickly approaching 100,000, with another week of storms on the horizon,) and weighs benefits of the recently implemented Ā DOT rule which imposes hefty fines on airlines that keep passengers waiting on the runway for more than two hours, but is also partly to blame for the uptick in cancelations. Thanks to Bob Goetz for the assignment!

D Magazine - Chi Birmingham
I stumbled across some old Golden Book Encyclopedias at the junk shop a few weeks ago and have been wanting to do one of these illustrated maps ever since. (Seriously, if you are looking for a lifetime worth of great illustration ideas track those bad boys down. You wonāt regret it.) I got the chance to put my pseudo geography to the test for D Magazine. This was for a story on an upwards trend in domestic medical tourism. Savvy patients with deep (or deeper than mine) pockets have been going to Europe and South America to take advantage of lower medical costs and now some US hospitals are trying to get in on the action. A big thanks to Hamilton Hedrick for the great assignment!
Kiplingerās Magazine - Chi BirminghamĀ
Hot off the presses! Over my winter break I worked on this illustration for a story on the wide world of streaming audio content.Ā I was happy to have an opportunity to draw both a plaid shirtĀ ANDĀ a sailing vessel (two of my favorites,) and to be able to pay tribute to my single greatest source of cultural input. Thank you podcasts! AND, thank you Stacie Harrison for the great assignment!Ā
