Matt had completely forgotten that this was Brook’s first time at his apartment until he noticed her looking around his place, as if she were taking in every single detail. They had lived together once, but after the break-up, he offered to move out, and that was how he ended up here. Up until recently, he had been convinced that his ex-girlfriend hated him, so there was no way she could’ve been at his place until now. “You know I’m not the best interior decorator, but I did my best to make this as great a man cave could be.” He laughed, watching as Brook drizzled the olive oil into the pan, as instructed. “Congrats, it’s been two minutes, and nothing’s burned down.” He finished dicing up some onions and tomatoes before sliding hem off the chopping board and into the ban. Grabbing a sauté spoon, he offered it to Brook. “Now, just continuously mix what’s in the pan around. I think you can handle that.” He grinned. “I’ll just work on preparing the chicken.”

Unable to hold back his laughter, Matt replied in his best impression of a Food Network chef, “What I’m making for you today are some rustic chicken tacos, drenched in a homemade salsa of diced tomatoes and sautéed onions, resting on a bed of corn tortillas.” He was acting silly around her again, and it was a stark contrast to the tone of their relationship for the last couple years. “Yeah, I’m glad we’re doing this.” He smiled again, enjoying the lightheartedness of the situation. “Now, please move out of the way so I can get the chicken going.”

“Don’t start the celebrations too soon. If you keep giving me more duties here, I might just burn down the entire place.” she said with a chuckle. “Speaking of which -” she started, giving the spoon a weird look, “you used to not even let me touch a spoon that wasn’t meant for eating and now you trust me with stirring? That’s some improvement.” she nodded and mixed the ingridients, trying not to make any pieces fly out of the pan. 

❝I tend to read more than I watch. But I feel like I’m going to be watching it a lot more, now I’m friends with you. I don’t think you’ll be giving me a choice otherwise.❞ He chuckled as she placed the DVD in the player. ❝Ooh pepperoni please.❞ He answered as she ordered them pizza.

Alec chuckled as she brought over some blankets and a box of tissues and got comfy, ready for the film. Alec glanced at Brook, her eyes focused on the screen and he couldn’t help but stare at her a little longer than he should of. ❝Ready.❞ He cleared his throat breaking his gaze from her and turning towards the screen.

“I like reading a lot, but I usually fall asleep doing so and lose where I’m at and my book falls down and pages crumble and it’s just ughhh!” she said frustratedly while adjusting in her seat. “You’ll be watching a lot in general if you mean to stick around, Professor Jenkins.” she said with a small smirk. “I have a wide range of genres though, don’t worry. If you wanna watch Matrix or something one day, I’d be down for it too.” she said with a chuckle.
