I still don’t know what that yellow tinge is. My shadow??? I'm going to have to find better lighting when I start stitching in that area. Also please ignore my parked threads and the blue dots lol. I got a water soluble pen and counted out my stitches. More on that below because it ended up creating some extra work for me.

I have a lot to say about this project today. This was my first full week working on it and I had a blast, of course (although that brick of black beneath the FO killed me...from the border corner down to where I started doing the 10x10 black in line with the colour was 912 stitches).

Speaking of stitches, I'm not going to be able to count them and give a % completion for a while. I naively started going colour by colour (cross-country stitching) and did not expect that I would get confused referring to the pattern and counting stitches. I didn't have to fix any mistakes, but I could feel it was coming if I wasn't extremely careful. So, I switched from cross-country stitching to parking instead, going in a downward 10x10 grid at a time. I started doing one grid of colour and one black to go along beside it. They require different enough techniques that it's like taking a break from the other when I switch between. The good news is whenever I catch up to where those few confetti stitches are, I'll be able to just count HxW and know how many stitches I've done and what % complete I am.

Also, because I'm going to be stuck in Black Line and Background Hell for a while, it's going to be so long before it's apparent what the image is that I might as well just forget the guessing game lol. The top and bottom borders will say FOUL MURDER in a running banner style (already got that ER FO going), left border will say INDORIL and right will say NEREVAR. The portrait pattern is a cropped version of this. As you can see, I'm working on the mushrooms with the hanging moss in the top right lol

Ok! So! The blue count grid! I fucked up on something right at the beginning of the project, and it took counting out the stitches to realize it. My project was just sliiiightly too big (I'd measured in inches rather than stitches and eyeballed it as 'oh yeah that's close enough'). I need to leave a safe 3" on each side for framing. With the original full size, I only had 1.75" at the bottom. For the central pattern image, it wasn't difficult to say ok, so I'll just chop off the bottom 20 stitches of the image, not a big deal. The problem was the left and right borders, because they were designed/centred for 300 stitches of length...and I'd already done a few rows of it (now filled in with the black).

Sifkni dashed through the door and to the Temple. She leaned on her knees as she entered, catching her breath. She looked up. “F-Farkas?”

Jenssen walked over. “He’s recovering. This way.”

Sifkni followed after the healer. Her heart pounded in her ears. She swallowed back the knot in her throat. She saw Farkas laying on the table. A partially healed wound slashed across his chest and arm. She pushed past Jenssen and leaned over Farkas. His breathing was even. She pressed her forehead to his arm and let out a soft sigh.

Danica walked over and put her hand on Sifkni’s shoulder. “He had a few broken ribs. And you can tell the extent of his injuries already. He will make it…. We have him sleeping for his comfort. He should….” Danica shook her head with a soft smile. “If he is like you, then he should metabolize it faster…. He will be okay. Let me grab a chair for you.”

Sifkni sat down once the chair was brought over. She held onto Farkas’ hand and watched his chest as he breathed. She traced the small scars on his knuckles before messing with the ring in his finger. She pressed her lips to his hand.

Some time had passed. Sifkni sat up when she felt Farkas move. She held his hand tightly. “Hey….” She whispered as his eyes opened.

Farkas looked at her and blinked. His brows furrowed together. Confusion spread across his face. “Hi…?”

Sifkni smiled. “How are you feeling?”

Farkas thought for a few moments. “Sore?”

“What’s wrong?” Sifkni leaned over and brushed his hair from his face. She noticed a faint blush spread across his cheeks. “Do you have a fever?” She put her hands on his face.

“You’re beautiful….” He stared at her.

Sifkni smiled. “You say that a lot….”

“I do?”

“Aye…. Almost every day…. We are married after all.” She giggled.

Farkas’ eyes widened. “We….” He pointed to her. “You married me?” He looked at the ring on his finger. He looked between the ring and Sifkni. “What?”

Sifkni smiled. “Aye…. I married you. You married me.” She grabbed his hand and held it to her cheek. She watched a blush creep across his face and he looked away. She giggled. “I guess the potions are still in your system….” She moved his hands. “Why don’t you rest more?” She moved the blanket carefully over his chest, avoiding the wound.

“Will you stay here?”

“Aye…. I will.”

Farkas reached for her hand and held it. “I can’t believe I married someone so beautiful…. You must be a Demi-Divine.”
