Jonah of course knew a bit about turning on the charms to get through to people; it was a skill helpful for working as a host here, but one heâd developed outside of the Haus. For a journalist, getting peopleâs trust and sympathy was essential, and while he thought of himself as genuine in that regard, there was no denying that the blonde was well aware of how kindness and charisma could be to oneâs benefit. That of course didnât mean he appreciated Brockâs courting charms any less. Quite the opposite; no matter how much he had to flash his own smile all day and make clients feel special and welcome, Jonah still very much was flattered by a man like the other being such a gentleman to him in return.
Brockâs story had the staff smile; it was easy to forget that these rich and successful men had often started from humble beginnings and worked their way up. âThatâs admirableâ, Jonah stated with a genuine smile; Brock was certainly not only impressive, but very much respectable as well. âI⌠Thank youâ, the younger man smiled, biting his lip for a moment with a little shrug. âIâm aware Iâm not ugly or anything. But⌠itâs still always very nice to hear, you know. Especially from a handsome man like yourselfâ, he admitted, happily taking the clientâs hand and feeling his cheeks get a bit warmer when the other called him his baby boy. Jonah definitely had a bit of a daddy kink, and apparently Brock wasnât shy to pick up on it. âOh, Iâm sure itâs notâ, he chuckled; he wasnât surprised that the other man was more than capable and willing to spoil him, and while it was still an unfamiliar feeling to have that happen, Jonah didnât mind it at all. âMaybe we could have some wine? I⌠must admit Iâm not a big expert, though. Back home, getting fancy meant mixing some champagne with my orange juiceâ, he chuckled.
Brock rarely went a day without putting on some kind of performance for the people around it, whether it was conveying his wealth, putting on the charm to woo someone to his bed, or simply just reiterating how good of a doctor he was. He couldnât help it. âFake it till you make itâ was always a guiding mantra to him, and now that he did make it, the faking part just became send nature to him. Not that Jonah seemed to mind.
He gestures for a waiter to come and take their drink orders with such a subtleness to it that they may as well have been a robot and not a person. âYou wanna know a secret? All wine tastes the same. People just pretend it doesnât so they can feel fancy. Thereâs red, white, rosĂŠ, and... some others Iâm not thinking of. You seem like a rosĂŠ kind of guy. Cute, sweet, pink all over... which also happens to be my favorite color, I think. People are always surprised when I tell them that, but so what? I look amazing in pink. It contrasts so well with my dark skin... kinda like you and me, baby boy. Iâm the big, strong, handsome stud, and youâre the adorable little hunk with an innocent face. Am I wrong in that assumption, hmm? Are you that innocent...?â
