I wasn’t sure if I should post this or not. But in the context of critique, I think I’ll give it a shot.

To be clear: I don’t have anything against Bowsette or this meme in general. I’m not critiquing singular artists, moreover the thing this meme says about our society and body images. I think it’s a pity that over-sexualized designs like these seem to be getting a pass by the masses, because they’re funny or just normal to us. I feel like they’ve been shadowing the Bowsette drawings that aren’t as sexual.

I would like to share a sampling of the graduation project that I had so much fun illustrating! It’s an old series, but one of my childhood favorites. There has been a TV series and a live action film, but never a modern-ish animated feature, and it was a bit of a passion project to imagine what it would look like, down to the character designs and the actual scenes.
