Jeff Koons

'Kiepenkerl' was sculpted in Baumberger sandstone by August Schmiemann in Münster, Germany in 1896 and was destroyed during World War II.

Albert Mazzotti Jr recreated it in cast metal in 1953 where it stands in the Old Quarter of Münster.

This merry-go-round used to sit on the Washington Mall, across the street from the Hirshhorn Museum (and a few yards beyond the sculpture park) though where it once was is now an empty space.

And while I don't recall it ever working, even a still merry go round is better than the space that remains when its gone.

The interesting thing about Laurie Anderson's exhibit 'The Weather' is how it is seemingly designed to be visually overwhelming.

I found it hard to take in in its entirely, which is why I found it easier to assimilate smaller bits though what's perhaps even more interesting is that despite the tendency to overwhelm, it manages to not alienate or isolate the viewer.
