Fangirl Challenge:Â Ten Male Characters (3/10)
Bridge Carson
Bridge had gone to the basement lounge in the library, since it was close enough to the bathrooms down there, but not close enough that heâd be awkwardly waiting. He checked his phone, annoyed that Driz had won yet again. However heâd realized that his hands were metaphorically tied; he couldnât keep lying to her, since that might provoke her to attack one of his friends. He also couldnât keep stalling, since that might just make her extra angry. Saying no hadnât worked, and neither had no take backs. Which meant that for today, he was stuck with letting her feed from him. He sincerely hoped that sheâd find a new donor after this time.

Drizella was finally satisfied because Bridge had agreed to let her feed. It had been too long since she drank from her favorite bloodbag. She waltzed into the lounge, leaning in behind Bridge. âAre you ready for our date sweetheart?â She growled in his ear, touching his shoulder gently.
At least heâd gotten some of his homework done. He still had a lot to go, but that would have to wait for now. Even if he hadnât agreed to do this, he still probably wouldâve had to wait until after class. However at the sound of her voice in his ear and her hand on his shoulder, Bridge snapped out of his thoughts. âWait, in what way is this a date?â He questioned. Although he hadnât gone on many dates, he was pretty sure that this was the farthest thing from one.

âTry a deer then?â He didnât like the thought of her drinking from an animal either, but it was better than her drinking from a human. âYou werenât a fish. You looked like a person to me. And you didnât say that it was only during that time. You said I wasnât needed anymore.â
Drizella fought the urge to throw her phone. Why did he have to be so fucking complicated? Itâs not like she took more than a typical blood donor would give. âI was a fucking fish. it should have been implied. You need to stop being so difficult.â
Bridge sighed. âNo one knew how long it was going to last. You canât imply something like that, especially since no one knew if weâd change back.â Although heâd tried, it looked like Driz would not be letting up at all. Which meant that he was likely to lose the argument. âLook, fine, Iâm at the library. But we need to be done before two, since I have a class then. And this is the last time Iâm doing this.â

Bridge: Sam I need some help.
Bridge: I have a history essay on the 1950s due tomorrow.
Bridge: You were around in the 50s, right?

âHow expensive are they usually?â He didnât think the countertop was marble, but if it was, he wanted to get an estimate on how much heâd have to pay if he did accidentally scorch it. âI think you couldâve harvested marble if you wanted, but Iâm kinda glad you didnât, because then we wouldnât have met.â He honestly wasnât quite sure what his bio class wouldâve been like if Heinz hadnât taught it, but it wasnât something he wanted to imagine. âIf I didnât seem like myself would you tell me?â
âMy cousin wanted one a long time ago, but it was nearly $100 for a square foot of it! Can you believe that? I could make myself rich if I started selling it â but, you are right. I would not have met you, or any of my students, so being a professor is good for me. âOf course I would! It could be a danger to your health or something, so I would always try to make you aware!â
âYouâre right, that is expensive.â Now he definitely hoped the counter wasnât marble, since he didnât exactly have one hundred dollars to shell out. âIâm glad youâd tell me, since Iâd probably just sound like me in my head. But how would me not seeming like myself be dangerous to my health?â
bridgeiismsâ:
âAlthough losing my toast made me sad, Iâm glad I didnât leave scorch marks on the counter. I donât think my housemates would be too happy with me if I had.â Z had even asked him if heâd scorched the counter top, and heâd been relieved to tell her he hadnât. âI wouldâve, but I burnt it to a crisp.â Heâd held a private funeral for it, but he wasnât about to tell Heinz that. âOh! Iâd say Iâm back to normal then. Or at least I think I am.â
âIâm sure losing your toast did make you sad, but the fact that your countertop is unscathed is the real treasure of this story. They can be expensive, especially if itâs marble. Have you seen how much people pay for those? At one point, I thought I might go into harvesting marble, but I donât think Iâm physically cut out for the job.â The professor smiled a bit. âGood! You seem like normal Bridge to me, but I always must make sure.â

Aphrodite, do you ship anyone at Fantasia U?
I ship myself with all of the gossip here. I also suppose that Dale and Ariel could be cute. They seem like theyâre getting pretty cozy. Is it wrong of me to think Bridge and Sky could be a totally hot power couple? Maybe if things started steaming up around here, Iâd be more into it.

Why did you let Drizella drink from you in the first place?
âBecause I figured itâd be better than letting her drink from some poor innocent freshman. I honestly didnât think it would turn into what it did.â
bridgeiismsâ:
âIt was weird. I set my toast on fire by accident.â Doing that had saddened him, since it was a plate of buttery toast gone to waste. âIâm glad I wasnât exorcized too. I donât really know what wouldâve happened if I had been.â At the question if things were back to normal, he shrugged. Normal wasnât exactly a word that anyone would use to describe him. And he wouldnât use it to describe himself either. âDo you mean normal as in back to how I am usually, or normal as in not weird?â
âAh, not your toast! Truly the peak of culinary expertise, ruined!â He placed his hands on his head dramatically as he spoke, a smile betraying his act. âThough, with how much buttery toast means to you, I canât imagine you would not eat it,â the professor jested with another smile. âAnd ah⌠Normal as in your usual self. Everything at this school is a little bit weird, so I canât expect that to just⌠disappear.â
âAlthough losing my toast made me sad, Iâm glad I didnât leave scorch marks on the counter. If the earth isn't flat then why are maps square?
âI think itâs so you can see latitude and longitude easier, since usually when they show it on a round Earth, itâs a curve and that can get confusing. But if itâs a square, then itâs a grid and itâs easier to read.â
What is your preferred bread to toast for buttered toast?
âIâll take whatever bread I can get, but because Iâm in college, I just get plain white bread. Can white bread be considered plain?â

When Sky wrinkled his nose, Bridge thought maybe his tactic was a success. However, at Skyâs next words, Bridge knew it had failed. He sighed, a pang of guilt making him want to apologize. The last thing he wanted to do was lie to his best friend. âOkay, fine. I didnât test anything on myself.â He had a feeling that even if he did test something like that out, it wouldnât help at all, since he could already track his own thoughts and see his own aura. At Skyâs demand, Bridge stayed silent, giving his friend a pleading look. He wanted to tell Sky about this, but he was scared. He wasnât exactly sure what Drizella would do if she found out.
The pleading look on Bridgeâs face told Sky everything he needed to know. He liked to think that he was good at reading people, so the look on his friendâs face made it clear that he wouldnât, or rather couldnât, tell him the truth. He knew he could keep pressing and eventually get Bridge to tell him, and the master interrogator in him told him to do just that, but the friend in him told him to back off.  âFine. Donât tell me. Iâll figure it out myself.â
Although a part of Bridge was relieved that Sky decided to stop interrogating him, another part of him was even more terrified. Even though investigating things would be a part of their job, the last thing Bridge wanted was his best friend investigating a mean and powerful vampire. âI donât think you should do that.â He replied softly, the pleading look on his face remaining. If Drizella found out what was going on, and she hurt Sky, Bridge wasnât quite sure what heâd do.

âYou may be able to fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, and some of all the people all some of the time, but you can't fool me, and I'm gonna bring you in.â
bridgeiismsâ:
âCould we possibly reschedule to another time when Iâm not busy? Or could you possibly not feed from me?â He texted, deciding to change tactics yet again. He knew the answer was going to be no, but he felt it was worth asking. And it might stall her some.
âYes, let me just turn my hunger down to 0 for your convenience.â Drizella typed back, pausing by her doorway to wait for an answer. âYou have 5 minutes to tell me what the fuck youâre trying to do.â
âIf youâre absolutely starving, why not go to the donation center? No one will tell you no there.â  He suggested. It was the truth, since people willingly donated blood to the donation center in the medical school.â âYou told me that my services werenât needed. So if itâs all the same to you, Iâd rather not start back up.â
