Advice for founders starting a business
1. Hire people that are better than you (in as many ways possible).
Build a diverse team of the smartest, most talented women and men you can find, that compliment your skill set.Â
2. Delegate & prioritize according to the "Startup Law of Comparative Advantage" so that you've got more time to focus on what's most important: product (features, strategy) & people (hiring, company culture).
You might feel like you can do most things better than others on your team (if yes, revisit point 1!) but make sure you prioritize your time to focus on areas that you are essential for. Once you've got competent people, empower them to handle everything else so that you don't get bogged down.
3. Review weekly a few key metrics.
No matter how big your team is, have a few key metrics (1-5 max) you review together every week. Examples: meetings with new clients, proposals sent, unique users, new accounts created, etc.
