Goals & Design Decisions for Personal Portfolio
Some of the goals I had when building my personal portfolio were to really encapsulate who I am as a person into a webpage. I really wanted to showcase my personality in it, not just the work I completed throughout the semester. I think when people understand who I am, theyāll better understand why I designed certain things the way that I did. Another goal I had was to make everything very simple, clean, and user-friendly. Itās a portfolio; my work should stand out more than anything.
As far as design decisions go, like I said above, I really wanted it to be simple and clean. Iām a huge fan of florals and pastel colors, so I had to implement them in my site. I did want the majority of the webpage to be white space, to really focus on the words and photos that are featured. I wanted to repeat the purple color in my logo, so I also used it for my link and button colors. I didnāt want it to be too colorful, so the rest of the site is mostly black and white. The biggest design principle I used was repetition because itās my favorite. The theme I used didnāt have a lot of customization with fonts, so I just played around with different header sizes to create contrast.
