Endure & Survive

Eddie’s smiling face looks down at you, watching you dig your face into his side more, watching you curl around his body like a cat.

He’s been sitting in bed for the last hour or so reading his book, glasses sitting on his nose, eyes darting across the pages growing wide with excitement as his feet taptaptap against the sheets.

You were exhausted, wanting nothing more than to be close to him and fall asleep while holding him.

“It’s never close enough,” you pout with sleep already seeping its way into your words as your arms wrap like vines around his middle.

I wish I could crawl inside your chest. Maybe that would be enough.

He laughs to himself while putting his book and glasses down on the little side table, ready to wrap his arms around you, in an effort to soothe the yearning in your chest tonight.

“Come here before you become one with my armpit,” he says in amusement as you immediately roll into his chest with a tight grip on his sleep shirt and a deep sigh.
