My beautiful best friend Padfoot is having surgery tomorrow to remove two growths, one on her back paw and one on her rear end. They’re going to send off the results for a biopsy and hopefully it’s not anything serious. Australia was my home for seven months. I learned the metric system, avoided Vegemite like the plague, and regularly saw kangaroos in my front yard. I made friends and found new hobbies and bonded with my host family. I say this because i know for a lot of people it’s hard to choose what crisis to care about when they seem to be everywhere. I know a lot of times it requires some sort of personal stake in the crisis. Well, I have a personal stake in this crisis. And if you’re following me, there’s a good chance you have a personal stake in me. Choose to care about the Australian fires. Choose to care about over 12 million acres burned and half a billion wildlife dead at the START of their fire season. Choose to care about climate change, because these are the clearest example of a catastrophic result that we’ve ever seen. The prolonged drought, unprecedented high temps, and high winds are creating the ultimate fire food. Choose to care about climate catastrophe, because that’s what it is.
