While she does view Yosuke as her best friend...honestly only friend at this point, Saki would celebrate/acknowledge his birthday in a very low-key, casual fashion.
Mostly to avoid accusations of sucking up to the boss' kid and to avoid him making a big deal out of it.

Doesn't make a big deal about it, no fanfare, balloons, cake nor card. Instead, it's a cd she got from a website based overseas.
He seemed to like this band and they had a new album out a month ago, so she ordered it and waited until it finally showed up at the Konishi's mailbox.
"...probably already has it" never the less, Saki slides the case into his work locker without touching or messing with anything, then rigging the lock back so it closes properly.
There's a theory i heard about Saki, that I'm honestly curious about the idea. Maybe even how they can expand on her character.
That the shadow Saki that is shown in the game isn't Saki's actual Shadow. Its part of Yosuke's Shadow, and how he thinks she reacts to him. Does make me curious , her shadow doesn't seem to reflect her actions if you ask me
MC and crew never encountered Mayumi's Shadow either, so I'm assuming the canon is 'when the source/the human' that created the Shadow dies, so does the Shadow. There were some 'lines' which indicated Saki's Shadow had a presence, things Yosuke or even his Shadow wouldn't know: Saki being tired of being torn between the family business and Junes, her finding Yosuke to be a pain in the ass sometimes.
That I believe is Saki's Shadow or what's left of it. Given the girl's habit of hitting where it hurts verbally, even if it's wrapped up as being 'teasing' or 'friendly ribbing', I do think those remarks came from Saki's Shadow.
My girl is best girl, but she...or at least her Shadow did say that shit.
As for Yosuke's Shadow spawning in the Twisted Shopping District, something CLEARLY not meant to represent Yosuke Hanamura or any of his own hang ups, it's simply for convenience sake: early on in the game, just now introduced to the Shadows/world behind the TV thanks to the second dive.
However, his Shadow 'intruding' and making himself comfortable in the Twisted Shopping District would also jive with the assumption the Inaba residents have of Junes and by extension the Hanamura family creeping in, taking over and pushing out the locals.
Again, I know it isn't that deep and more than likely simply time, art direction and budget limitations, plus it wouldn't make sense to create yet ANOTHER new area just for one fight.

"At least it finally did something..." all of the heat lightning, the smothering humidity and clouds that promised some relief only to deliver nothing and all but cover the town in a blanket of oppressive heat and moisture.
"Maybe this will cool things off a little" there was a vein of irony that she was standing around, talking about the weather like she was a grandmother already. For her next trick, Saki figured she could complain about arthritic limbs.
I wonder if they'll expand any part of Saki's character with the remake? I mean didn't Golden to that as well?
There were a few things in Golden that I like, one of my favorite things is being able to see/hear the Konishi siblings arguing Day 1 of arriving in Inaba.
I'm not sure what all they 'can' add. Persona 4 on it's own is a hefty game and I imagine they will pad and add more stuff for the living characters.
Dead or alive in the canon, Saki Konishi is my favorite character and I've worked with less than 5 minutes of screen time + flashbacks, so we'll see!
I'm just excited the game is getting some more attention and we're seeing some progress.
And of course soon as Persona 6 starts introducing the characters, I'll probably find a favorite among them.
As for more info about Saki Konishi, I really don't know what all they can add.
I do find it odd that one of your first side quests is tied to Konishi's Liquor or rather the alcohol within. Namely an adult asks a TEENAGER, the MC in school uniform, to get alcohol for him from the Konishi's stores, but...he kind of can't
1 . They are in mourning at the time, so the store is most likely closed
2. I doubt MC could unless he said it was Dojima/ per his request, don't know how that'd work in Japan to be honest.
What strikes me as weird is the guy in the suit that gives you that task says he can't go to the store/can't do it himself, again hand wave as a reason to do the task/go back to the Twisted Shopping District to get the booze + Yosuke's weapon there after defeating the boss- ie a pattern of doubling back to get stuff/complete side quests.
Still...it seems strange, almost like the quest giver is banned from the Konishi's Liquor store or has some bad blood with the family...just weird.
Still here, kinda. Still love her. Sometimes I even let her go outside and talk to people, see the sights and have some enrichment before she goes back into the fridge.

Send me “alt!” and I’ll introduce you to a character I’ve rped in the past, want to play in the future or are currently playing somewhere else!
Chemically clean stark white walls, only pop of color being the chrome of an IV pole, green spikes and falls of a monitor face and crimson tresses. Saki attempted to hold back a smirk. Her boss didn't have to come to see the Konishi woman, she was simply a foot soldier entrusted with technology which cost more than her body parts would sell for on the black market.
Brown eyes caught on how Mitsuru's gaze would look at the loosened tied gown, showing off the angry raised branching welts. Skin tattooed a reminder of what a murderous detective could do if he was let off his leash.
"So, what does the paper work say? How are you going to hand-wave this one?" delivered in a droll tone. The verbal bludgeon hit dead on as Mitsuru visibly flinched before covering up by turning her body away from looking to the woman laid up in the hospital bed.
Anyone who did so much as ten minute internet search of Mitsuru, her lineage and their corporation, would find a wealth of atrocities committed against children. Unfair to blame the granddaughter for an act two generations removed from her and Saki knew she had signed herself up to be an experiment to chase power.
Knowing better didn't mean she would follow through on that wisdom.
Had to play her cards right. A quick silver tongue would serve her well, smooth enough to soothe a wounded ego and remain assertive to get what she wanted.
A way out. The tech. A letter of recommendation.
Saki Konishi was no stranger to burning bridges, but had learned her lesson: she had to be on the other side before lighting the match.
Disappears on this blog for months, comes back with bits of pop music lyrics that inspired me/gave me Saki Konishi Vibes
When they say I was made from you (ooh)
I bite my tongue, and hope my heart can get its head around (ah)
Our paradise lost, our paradise lost (ooh) (Eve and Paradise Lost- Bastille)
-
While the world was empty save for you and I...
I cry everyday and the bottles make it worse, cause you were the only one I was never scared to tell I hurt (House in Nebraska by Ethel Cain)
-
Say what you want, but say it like you mean it. With your fists for once, a long cold war with your kids in the front.
I don't need anything from anyone. It's just not my year, but I'm all good out here - (American Teenager by Ethel Cain)
I've talked about fake dating trope on my Haru Okumura blog, in that Haru can not, for the life of her, fake date or pretend to be in love with someone. It becomes real to her and comes at her fast.
Saki Konishi on the other hand, girl can fake it. She has faked it and let a relationship go on for longer than was healthy because she was getting something out of it ( a place in the city). Only when she felt trapped by that situation did Saki leave her older boyfriend and come back home to Inaba.
When she's in her late teens/early 20's though, she'll go through the motions, not really give a fuck or care too much.
She'd be an excellent fake date/fake girlfriend in that you, the co-conspirator will also wonder if her feelings are geuninue or not.
Woe be upon thee if you date her for real and without pretense.

More stray thoughts about the Dispatch AU over here cause while I'm going through writer's block, I still have energy to blab about my favorite AU.
Toxic Yuri Partnership: The only reason Saki can keep the propratory Persona summoning gear even after she quits Shadow Operatives is because she was successful at exploiting Mitsuru's guilt. True, putting a paroled Tohru Adachi on her team was a gross oversight and an unforgiveable error, but Saki milked that mistake for everything it was worth.
Hint: she was the toxic element to the partnership.
Saki got to keep the gear and can bring it in for repairs/upgrades, but she and Mitsuru are kind of not on speaking terms anymore. Saki knows she overplayed her hand, but says she doesn't feel guilty since she got her freedom to join other entities and keep the tech.
Important Haircut: Mentioned it in another post, but Saki's long wavy hair is a distinctive trait of hers (exposed her as the 'corpse finder' even though the tv station blurred her face), yet her hero costume has a helmet component. It was pain in the ass to tame and slick back a mane of curls, so fed up with matainance and fighting endless helmet hair, Saki chopped it back to a wavy bob. It's still light brown, soft and curled, but now it's not nearly as much of a mess as the cascade of locks were.
Lady of Black Magic: Psy is 'technically' a Persona offensive power/ability, however with the hero suit The Shadow Opperatives made for Saki and others to experiment with, Tsunade's Psychokinetic powers are at her disposal. Psychokinetic (Psy) is coupled with attacks which inflict ailments like Fear, Despair and Rage. Saki can't pick as to what her abilities inflict on others: visual or audio hallucinations, a sense of dread/desire to flee or a blind blood lust.
The Psy attack itself compounds on whatever she inflicted on the enemy, serving to disort their reality, incapaciting, hindering or slowing their progess. Coupled with Saki's mobility stat, she's good to pair with a heavy hitter who might move slowly or needs a lot of set up/prep work before they can unleash hell on someone.
Her suit and helmet are solid black, but 'ripples' of cyan-magenta-yellow appear along the skin-tight fabric when she uses the ailment effects or Psy
As for the 'Lady' aspects of her personality, Saki keeps to herself and a few others she know who have transferred from Japan. Projecting a distant, aloof and untouchable demeanor. Doesn't hurt that she strictly works night/graveyard shifts, so she's leaving the SDN building when most of the main 'cast' are waking up or coming in for the day.
Among her friends, via phone conversations or chats with Lemon, Saki's more like herself: a flirt, a sassy tease and silver-tongued. She is more reserved around men, but so long as it's Teddie or Hana-chan, she's not as stand-offish.
In battle, Saki prefers to strike undetected until the abilities + the glowing bits of her suit make it impossible to ignore her. Once the enemy is in the throes of manipulation though, she falls back and lets others get their hits in. Outside of teamwork, she's a 'squishy wizard' who doesn't have a lot of Vitality (Defense) and no Offense to speak of unless you count bitch-slapping as effective offense.
