The nerves almost got to him again. Not that he really thought she'd say no, but the short silence still allowed him to get in his head. Until she spoke. Just like that, he was returning her smile and all the nerves felt like they were long gone again. "Good," he replied, still smiling at her. "At this point, I think I've kinda wanted you to be mine since that first coffee date," he admitted. "There's definitely no one else, just you. You're stuck with me."

" Good." She said with a small chuckle. " I'm glad that I wasn't the only one hoping after that coffee date that we'd date." She said with a small smile. She couldn't help how giddy she felt. " Now I just need to convince you to move to Florida." she teased a little. Did she mind making trips back and forth with them to see each other. But she'd be lying if she said she wouldn't enjoy him being closer to her.

For a moment, Jake's gaze stayed on her. He couldn't help it. Without even realizing it, he'd fallen so hard for her. Maybe it was fast, maybe it wasn't. More importantly, he wouldn't change any of it. "Actually, there's something I've been wanting to ask you," he broke the silence between them. Of course once he'd uttered those words, he felt his nerves kick in again. But, he just took a sip of his beer before continuing. "I think you might be able to tell that I really like you, Paige. More than I've liked anyone in a long time," he started. "I'd very much enjoy it if we made things between us official, you being my girlfriend."

She was silent, though, when he said there was something he wanted to ask her. " Oh?" she said softly. She couldn't help her brain kind of go to the worst possible outcome very quickly. Even though she knew, logically, that it was impossible. She couldn't help the stupid grin though that appeared on her face when he asked for her to officially be his girlfriend. I'd very much enjoy that. Don't think I'd rather be with anyone else."

"No pouting." He might not have been looking at her, but he could tell that's what she was doing. After he'd set a beer down for both of them, he sat across from her. One thing he knew for sure was that he was a good cook, so he'd just laughed a little at first. He'd never minded the teasing, he'd likely do the same to her. A small wave of silence hit as they both started to eat. But, there was no denying he still always felt comfortable with her. "Glad you enjoy it."

" You've not let me down yet when it comes to your cooking," she said with a smile. Not that she was ever expecting his food to be bad. She returned to being quiet, though, as she ate more of her food. Just enjoying the silence between the two of them. It was never awkward; it had always been a comfortable silence, even when they first started talking with each other. She just smiled at him, thinking of that first little coffee date they'd had.

He would have been lying if he said he didn't enjoy keeping her this close. What was better than that? She just seemed to fit so perfectly in his arms. Jake smiled faintly, giving her a gentle squeeze before kissing the top of her head. "You more than deserve it, beautiful," he replied. Unfortunately, he soon let go of her, just so he could pull out her chair for her. "Have a seat." Once she had, he brought over both of their plates.

Jamie couldn't help the little pout she had appear on her face when he finally let her go. She couldn't help it she just enjoyed being in his arms always. She moved to sit at the table when he pulled out her chair for her. " I do hope everything tastes as good as it smells." She teased a little as she watched him make the plates for the two of them. " Everything tastes good." once she was able to take a bite when he placed the plates down.

One thing he'd especially loved was how much his dogs had adored Jamie too. For him, that was a big deal. In the past, it had been a dealbreaker. Needless to say though, both Kurama and Leah had fallen for the Brit just as quickly as he had. He'd started setting the table when he heard Jamie making her way into the kitchen. Never much of a wine drinker, he'd grabbed two beers for them - not that he thought she'd mind. "Come here," he asked, gesturing towards her. Once she was close enough, he wrapped his arm around her and gently kissed her.

She was never going to tell the man no, so the simple command of his calling her towards him was something she did without even really questioning it. Smiling up at him, she couldn't help but feel safe in his arms. Kissing him back, she just let a contented sigh out. " You're too good to me," she said happily as she stood there in his arms.

Oops? It'll be worth it, beautiful. I promise.
