Had to bump up the rating of The Bite that Breaks the Skin today from M to E because I realized i was using old fanfic rating metrics lol and I'm building so much tension in the fic. Have to let that out properly for a good payoff.

Responding to the reply from @lightlymusing about what consititutes E rather than M: -Personally, I think it's a fine line that is more preference-based. Like, I would rate a fic that's mostly character building and worldbuilding with a sex scene as M, and a story that had several chapters devoted to smut (or it was the main plot point, or pwp,) then I'd rate that as E. I trace my fanfic writing lineage all the way back to ff.net and even earlier, where the lines were more blurred. See this post.

But! Things evolve and so has my writing and I write smut a bit more descriptive now, at least in this fic with Corbeau and Harmony. That post above mentioned the Envelope Post, which changed my opinion on it a bit more.

So, to be more conscientious of my readers and set expectations, rather than change them mid fic (rating it M, but a few chapters are E) I can be way more upfront about it.
