And maybe Bucky sees him at it. Just calm and chill and gentle and enjoying the peace. And maybe Bucky thinks "Hmm, maybe I should trust this guy after all. Cats are an excellent judge of character."

And not to steal Catwoman's line from The Batman, but Sam definitely has "a thing about strays". After all, Sam let Steve and Nat into his home right away after turning up unannounced on his doorstop covered in muck. That's a very cat person thing to do.

And and, what if Bucky's opening line to Sam is "So you like cats?" 🤣

as we all know. coquette is supposed to be a subculture that embraces girlhood and femininity and a joie de vivre for everyone. if that's the case, why are black girls held to such narrow and frankly eurocentric standards?

We need to be more honest about how we view black girls in the community and the racism they face.

This is just a snapshot of the hatred we recieve here for trying to make the tag as inclusive as possible. Everyday we see white girls post random things and it eventually gets absorbed as coquette culture, why are the black girls not the same?

Why is this seen as acceptable black girl femininity

but this isnt?

And I believe that complaining does nothing without action, and I want to be the change I want to see.

So I'm introducing hoochie coquette.

This substyle is based around and caters to the specific displays of femininity crafted by young Black American women. People often deny Black Americans have a culture but that's simply untrue, while it varies from region to region, there are things that unify us: hair bobbles, large gold earrings, long ornate nails, colorful hair, grillz and more. I want to celebrate and show the beauty of the culture we have created, and I no longer wish to alienate the girls people deride as 'ghetto' and 'hoodrats'. These girls are beautiful, funny, smart and an all around good time. Who says they aren't coquette just because they wear Baby Phat instead of Brandy Melville?

I also challenge young Black girls to antagonize why they look down on these types of girls. Are you really better than them or are you internalizing a yt supremacist worldview that causes you to abandon the girls who are your cousins? Your sisters? Your aunts and maybe even your mothers before you were born?

I’m talking about Starfleet Academy being cancelled with no other Star Trek shows now being in production, I’m taking about Gen V being scrapped, and now I’m talking about Wonder Man and Blade and all the other projects Marvel / Disney have suddenly swept aside or are no longer be treated as a priority.

It’s hard not to see the patterns unfold and draw connections between this and the current climate of conversation; taking a recent interview by actor Andy Serkis discussing his upcoming movie The Hunt for Gollum as example, where he blatantly used far right dog whistles when describing the casting and diversity for the project as not a ‘politically correct just casting for the sake of casting and ticking boxes version of the film’.

Not only does this attitude belittle the hard work and roles of the actors working on the current counterpart of this film and franchise, and disregards the involvement of those in The Rings of Power to be merely for appearance, it reinforces a rhetoric that’s becoming more permanent and increasingly fixed in our societies. This attitude will barely face any repercussions, and will only perpetuate this sentiment that diversity in our media is a choice, where one is more secure and prioritised and will always be seen as the norm whilst the other is an addition to that norm, and is an option and never the centre.

The Hunt for Gollum will not be treated with the same precariousness as a diverse piece of media, it will not risk anything by aligning itself with the above sentiments and by cementing itself as a staple of this norm, it will instead be protected and unchallenged, whilst anything that strays from those confines has always risked scrutiny but will now face more challenges and obstacles to even exists on our screens.
