I would like to introduce this woman to you, her name is Zuliana Araya and she’s the first transgender councilor of the city of Valparaiso and the second transgender person to ever have a public charge in Chile. She’s also the representant of 25 latin american countries in an organization that fights for the Human rights of transgenders people. 

But that’s not all, in fact theres a lot more to this woman, for example she comes from a low resource family composed of 9 brothers and sisters and her parents. She left her home when she was only 13 and she became a sexual worker in the middle of the military goverment. She was countlessly beaten, tortured and publicly shamed by police officers and was even shot one time by the 

But even after all those things she kept being strong and it gave her the power to fight for the rights of her people.

Nowadays she still works as a councilor untill 2016 and has been the face of equality in the region.
