Clean clothes were a rare luxury. It was usually changing from one filthy shirt to another, but that was the last thing that seemed like something to complain about.
But with the amount of BLOOD on his current shirt, it was beyond time for a change. He glanced at Clarke then, his true ally in this world, and offered her a weak smile. “ Do you remember when this wasn’t what our lives were like? ”
He shook his head and turned to face the new shirt he’d laid out (which, granted, wasn’t particularly clean either). Rod let out a small sigh as he pulled off his current shirt, wincing just slightly as he moved his arm, his shoulder still singing from the recent fight.
“You need to think about yourself every once in a while.”

Rod’s expression twisted a little, fingers twisting through his hair as he thought over her words. He didn’t feel selfless; in fact, it felt like he did nothing. He looked up at Juliette with tired eyes. Since his parents had passed on, he had become his little sister’s guardian which was... God, it was something else entirely.
Exhausting. Overwhelming. He had to do more than he was doing. Any time he took to unwind or be on his own to talk to people for the hell of it felt WRONG.
“ I can’t, ” he said finally. “ I mean, I do. Already. I do it too much. She needs me. ”

Rod hadn’t expected it, for Juliette to bend over in front of him, to have such a view of... Everything. They had been friends for a long time now, had been in each other’s lives ever since he’d accidentally found her number (well, okay, prank texted her like a douche). Either way, somehow they had become friends, THANKFULLY. He was’t sure what he’d do without her now. She was one of his best friends in the world.
But yet... Here he was checking out her ass. Like a dumbass. He swallowed thickly, trying to make himself stop, to look away, to just stop. But it was easier said than done, and he could feel his heart rate picking up rapidly. She was a beautiful girl, and he cared deeply for her of course, but he had never been stupid enough to feed the attraction.
His throat actually croaked a little with the dryness when he finally managed to clear it and avert his gaze, though he did end up glancing through the corners of his eyes again. God, what was wrong with him? Whatever it was was making his gut tighten and his mind wander though and he really had to get back under control.

❄ I was nervous about making Rod - I had never written an OC as an indie before and he started on an asoiaf multi but I decided to give him a space where he could have more individuality. It was terrifying and I am overwhelmed by the welcome he’s gotten.

Worst experience: it involved a rp group I was running with a few friends and there was a lot of drama in a span of like a month. Once it blew over it was fine, but it was super stressful.
