Zimmerman: Magnus

A couple of things: I’m leaving my job as a History teacher and starting a new job in a different school working with much younger children (aged 3-7) coaching sports. My last day as a History teacher (for the foreseeable future, at least) is next Friday - I then have a week off before beginning my new job on 20th February. I’m also in the process of moving back in with my parents for a little while bc my boyfriend (soon to be ex idk it’s complicated) is moving to China to teach English.

SO as you can imagine life at the moment is incredibly busy and I’ve got a ton of things I need to do before next Friday. That being said I’m totally going to be around this weekend! I’m going to be catching up on things and stuff. Normal activity will resume somewhat shortly (as in, maybe a couple of weeks) but until then it’s going to be spotty and/or non-existent.

“Why don’t you just understand that I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT?!” It breaks out of her, before she can stop herself and remember that she is yelling at the completely wrong person, but he has been asking her for days now and Clarke’s patience has worn thing. If she ever had any to begin with. She looks down at the floor, hands trembling from a mixture of anger, anxiety and terror, because there is no way she can put into words why she has been so off. It will break his heart and so she has decided that it is her burden to bear. “I’m sorry, I…I didn’t mean to. It’s just…I can’t talk about it, okay? Not now. Not ever. That has nothing to do with you.”

“That sounds acceptable. Do you feel better now? Because I have to go and pick up the little two teethed monster we call daughter. Maybe we could take her out for a little? A bit of fresh air might do all of us some good”, Clarke remarks and leans down again to kiss his forehead, before gently nudging him off her lap.

          He’s clever, she supposes, and while she’s got half a mind to be annoyed with him she’s more than aware that most people aren’t comfortable here. “With all due respect, an intern would be qualified to do this, but since you insist ––-” Lisa pulls her ID card out of her pocket with a half-smile. Dr. Lisa Cuddy, M.D., Dean of Medicine. “Do my qualifications meet your approval?”

“Why would I apologize for that? We didn’t know each other back then, but looking back at the last 7 years, I can clearly say you deserved it”, she teases and grins down at him, glad to see a smile spreading across his features. His face is always the prettiest when he smiles and the dimples let his face look young and boyish. “Yeah, that’s definitely not how this works, but E for effort in this case. I love you, wally.”

           “The PARAMEDICS would beg to differ, based on the fact that you’re in my E.R.. Now how about you let me get those CUTS cleaned up? I promise it’ll be quick.”

“ If I needed your help, I would’ve asked for it. Now go away and leave me ALONE. I’m fine. ”

“Oh well”, Clarke remarks and shrugs slightly. “We had a rough start as well. Remember? I threw a snowball in your face and gave you a black eye, because there were stones in it. Sometimes a black eye is the best start to a long friendship.” She chuckles slightly and leans down to kiss his forehead. “Maybe it meant something to your PARENTS, but that is not a legacy you have to keep. Just take it slow, give her a chance, get to know her and either you’ll like her then, or you won’t.”

“I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself. You feel like you HAVE to like her, so you are not giving her an objective chance. But you don’t. Just because your parents were close with her and you are named after her doesn’t mean a thing. But I think you should give her a chance to get to know you. Then decide what you make of her”, she tells him softly, gentle fingertips rubbing circles onto his scalp.
