Also...sighs. I know that Varka does have a tendency to leave paperwork to Jean. Even Lohen has mentioned it. I don't think he's abusive to her, still. I do think he has a lack of tolerance for paperwork. And part of me wonders if that was because of the fact that he might find paperwork to be mindless and not distracting. Think about it: This man was ready to die, essentially. He technically was multitasking mentally, emotionally...and physically, carrying the soul of a god in his own body.

And now after that, while he's completely free from it--doesn't mean he didn't suffer mental damage from it all. For all we know, his mind still wonders a lot of 'what ifs' 'maybes' etc...

Does he sit down and handle his paperwork? Yeah-we see it in game and in his trailer / teaser. But when he can, he still goofs off a bit if he's able to.

That said....now that he's back in the office, I feel like Varka would fully see everything Jean is put through and he does try to take up the work he can. And also give that woman a break.

@boreaswind continued from x Eyes go from the ❛ suggestion ❜ to the grandmaster, before going back to the elephant in the room. What was going on, an onlooker might ask? Well. It was very simple. Varka, in all of his brilliance had decided to try his hand at mixology. Apparently it was a skill he had honed during his time in Nod-krai… So thus brought the two to where they are at the moment: Diluc being asked to sample one of his mixes.

❝ You know I don't drink. ❞

Now. Diluc supposed that WAS a lie – He did drink, but it wasn't like most of the people born && raised in Mondstadt. He didn't enjoy the taste of liquor && most of the specialties here were known for their kick && hardness. In private? He'd custom tailor his own drinks to be a lot less inebriating && also not have that dreadful aftertaste tannin brought to the flavor profile.

…However he couldn't ignore the fact that in front of him was clearly what looked to be something more in line with what he made himself. It was presented in a cocktail glass, the color suggesting a fruity palette. He was certain if he was to get close enough to it he could probably ascertain the ingredients from a sniff, but he wasn't going to give the grandmaster free hope that he would indulge what he was setting forth. After all… There shouldn't be anyone that knows his little secret.

…Except Kaeya && if Kaeya had told him… Well…

Don't worry-nothing strong for once. ❞ It had a mix of the Sakura sake Flins and him had talked about before, with a few other things. It's light enough that no one would necessarily be knocked on their feet, nor will there be too many tannins. Varka, unfortunately, always missed the alcoholic content in the sake--perhaps due to his own nature and tolerance. But, because of that--he wondered if maybe Diluc might like it more.

❝ No fire-water. No hard liquor or anything. It is Sake, but…honestly, it's a lot lighter it feels like. Maybe tied with your famous wine, if that. C'mon-give it a try. ❞

He wasn't wrong-they weren't alone. It wasn't just him and him making business in this room…they were being ease dropped on. Why? Varka had a million guesses. Could be fans trying to gossip. Could be murderous intentions for the male across from him. Varka wouldn't stand for the latter, of course--not as his body guard.

❝ Hold that thought, sir. ❞ Comes the blond's response as he sets down his glass and stands--turning towards where the gaze was coming from. Ah. Yes. He could see them--easily so. In one moment, Varka's still in the room. In the next--he's right besides the person who had a rifle aimed right as Ayato's forehead. Unfortunately for the poor soul, survivors weren't permitted.

Varka comes back in what might have felt like hours, but truly was only ten minutes at best--seating himself back down and taking a sip of his drink. There's a confident smile on his features--sapphires eyeing the other.

❝ Sorry about that. Unwanted guests dealt with--did we want to move this elsewhere, sir? ❞

Eyes glance down at the other's left hand… The ring upon it. He had achieved happiness. Even if some of his lovers' ran… He had protected them. Mondstadt… Hell, TEYVAT still stood. Varka himself? He was a lone wolf without a home now. Even though this timeline was every bit of what he had tried to achieve…

That was his REFLECTION'S work. Not his own. In the end, everything had fallen apart && the former grandmaster had been powerless to stop it.

Fuck it hurt…

Now he had to figure out what to do here. There was no path home for there was no home. There was no place for him to go. He supposed after he closed this conversation he would take to isolation… Find someplace quiet so he wouldn't disturb life for his reflection.
