Booking Yeah

I finally finished this book. And while I’m very much FOR THE HORDE, I greatly enjoyed this and it gave me plenty of feels.

This one seemed sort of...pointless? Idk.

I liked this one. I enjoyed the tension that permeated the story. I also liked the brief touch on why bad things happen.

I liked this one. But I think I liked the note afterward even more lol.

John declines relations.

Which on the first night could actually be seen as sweet. And I mean, if she totally didn’t want that at all, good on him.

Buuuut...

6 years later and she runs away and divorces him on the grounds of non-consummation.

Damn.

Just...damn.

This one was sort of depressing. It took me a bit to get into it. And then the last few pages were a flurry of emotion. Anger, disgust, pity, compassion, sadness.

I enjoyed this one. While Franny is only 9, I found her to be relatable and I was totally cheering her on.

I was nervous for her.

This one...this one was bizarre. But in the sense that there have been many instances of cults over our history. And I always find it weirdly fascinating.

Not going to lie, I did not finish reading this one. It read too much like a history book.

So...I have mixed feelings about this one.

I wasn’t overly fond of the writing in general, it seemed to be all over the place and it took me a bit to figure out what in the heck was going on.

I do like that once you figured out what the story was about, it sort of made you think. How much is too much? The torture of animals is not ok. But what makes it ok to eat them or use them as resources? Is it the humane way we bring about their death? Do we rationalize it as our lives bring more important than our own?

There were also some interesting insights from Mary about relationships and what makes a strong friend.
