HOTD S3E5 thoughts, /!\ spoilers :
i have mixed emotions : i did not like the treatment of female characters and the pacing, but found some dialogues interesting. some scenes were quite entertaining too.
• alicent girl— don’t even pronounce the word that starts with W , just don’t.
• every female character is a weaker version of their book counterparts, it’s really evident his episode (baela, alicent, rhaenyra especially)
• f.f gave a great performance as criston cole, you can really feel the pent up frustrations, bitterness and resentment morphing into that strange "peacefulness" at the idea of letting go and going to the battlefied not to win, but to die. it’s just sad that they’ve watered him down. he does bit feel threatening at all, could have made a great villain this season.
• gwayne’s positivity being slowly crushed… the tear slowly rolling in his face… glad he packed his things and left.
• loved seeing baela, i missed her! she looked so pretty too! i just wished she could be more like book!baela (confident, fearless..) or that daemon would at least defend her more.
• ugh, the pacing is far too rushed… season 2 waisted so much time and now you can tell that they are STRUGGLING to fit everything in the last remaining episodes. (scenes end very abruptly and it feels like a compilation at times instead of a flowy episode)
• another diva down, ser luthor you came and went but you will be missed – well – daemon will.
• aegon is really getting deconstructed layer by layer since being injured and all their dialogues/reflections are interesting to follow. they have such a weird dynamic.
• the aemond/aegon wondering who was the favorite was kind of meh, especially bc they’re thinking about it at the same time which felt more like a scenarist voice than their own.
• ormund YOu BETTER stop that shit!!! i feel so bad for daeron :(
