The fire blew out this canyon and there was nothing we could do but get out of the way. Juniper desert fires go hard and fast when they’ve got wind behind them. The lights, the decorations, trying to buy as many gifts for the family as he can before Mum sees the Visa statement, and of course the family shenanigans. The holidays have been so disjointed this year for our family. Mum and Dad’s is under construction, so the decor was kept to a pitiful bare minimum, no outside lights and lots of extra hours at work from all of our jobs. Despite all that, and my very brief appearance at Christmas this year (like 3 hours brief), I was overwhelmed with all those warm fuzzy feelings when I could put a huge smile on Dad’s face with one silly little gift. These guys are such a huge part of my world, and if not for them, what is to [hopefully] come would have never been a reality.
