darcy just smirked, flicking the end of the lighter with his thumb before the flame lit the end of his cigarette. “you’re all over the place, sweetheart,” he said as he put the thin cylinder to his lips, puffing out a breath of smoke. “just curious– if you don’t smoke, why are you carrying this around?”

              “   perhaps so,   ”   were his first murmurs, inhaling the smoke from the cigarette before blowing it out. he moved up his hand, the sound of the leather of his jacket scratching against the asphalt the only sound made, as he reached to let the back of his head rest on his forearm.   “   but what is the point in feeling sorrow. do you never feel as if you want to join the fight, make a difference before it is too late   ?   in these circumstances, we do not have anything to lose anyway.    ”   or did they. he had made up his own mind about it, figured it all out about the current order of events. their future was looking gloomy, and with nothing to lose in a situation where loss of everything was a fact instead of possibility, it only fueled his motivation to show what he meant. with more power, with more force. subsequently, he put out his hand again to hand over the cigarette back to audrey, as his own eyes lingered on the darkening sky above.   “   when do you think our time will run out   ?   ”

“Oh c’mon it won’t be that bad. Plus we have a lot to live for until then,” she said. Beth was rather optimistic about it all. She viewed the end of the world as a chance to do everything she missed out on. “I have, and I would do very unholy things with him,” she giggled.

“you probably do, but I, I will rather go down with the rest of them.” though she not sure if she really wants that. maybe just the thought of it would be okay but the actual thing, she feels like she would back out in a second.”you should be doing unholy things with someone then being here with me right now, we could actually get hit by a car, honestly.”

“so the options could be; living longer but SUFFER from diseased, pollution riddled air, or get obliterated by a giant space rock. how does one choose.” eyes roll, tone remaining fairly casual, though sarcasm easily laced into her words. “thanks but i’m GOOD, in the grand scheme of things i don’t think it really matters, besides we all have to go one way or another.”

car couldn’t help but smile when audrey put it out, wondering how long she would have kept it lit if caroline had never walked over. “i get that. everybody has someone they want to be with when the asteroid hits. and sure, there’s people i wouldn’t mind sharing my last moments with, but i like being alone sometimes. and in my last moments, it doesn’t sound too bad.” audrey was one of the few people car had talked to about the asteroid, having kept her opinions on it to herself most of the time. 

juniper’s 𝑜𝒸𝑒𝒶𝓃𝒾𝒸 hues roll at her friend’s ANTICS. the tentative girl s l o w l y makes her way towards audrey, not without looking both ways of course. “ see i feel like that’s totally ғᴀʟꜱᴇ, ” she manages to rasp out before giggling. after a moment of ｈｅｓｉｔａｔｉｏｎ and contemplation she goes to sit beside the brunette in the MIDDLE of the street. “ gimme, ” the blonde requests. but she doesn’t wait for a reply before taking the slushie from audrey’s hand.

        “     personally i figured they’d just make more cash,  all the people around the world trying to do their part to save it & all that.     ”    he can understand her anger though to some extent,  the end of the world as they know it has certainly brought out the best & worst in people. it’s a side that at one point he would’ve shied away from, hidden by rose colored lens but the world has never been quite that kind.    “    ——you often read the news or ?    ”

“ the more money the better, i guess”    light eyes rolled nearly out of their sockets, lids fluttering closed in hopes that her anger would simply leave after lashing out on one of her closest friends. quiet, even after the second bombardment of words, as she let her chest rise and fall.  “i don’t need too. same old shit everyday. burning stores, riots, all that shit. what could be possibly be different?”

her words nearly made ronnie LAUGH,  though she managed to keep a straight face. “you’re sounding just like one of those conspiracy theorist right now. though i don’t think we’re ever going to get our shit together. better this thing just wipe us out now.” her shoulders raised into a slight shrug. “shit, i didn’t think you’d actually have a response for that. i just wanted to know what kind of response you’d come up with, i don’t have anything.”

“hey, who knows i could make some money off that? we’re stubborn human beings, prettying sure at some point we gotta get our act together” she lets her arms rest in front of her knees as she brings them up, letting her cigar linger between her fingers.”trick me huh? guess this really isn’t true friendship”

caroline shook her head at the girl. though she did many things, and she probably couldn’t judge, she wasn’t one for cigarettes. they reeked like the nights when her dad had friends over and they all shared a cigar, and any memory involving her parents brought her mood down a bit, even the smallest reminder. she pushed the thought away and instead thought of the cool night air blowing her hair out of her face, and how relaxed she was for the first time in a while, even if it was in the middle of the street. “i like to clear my head, as typical as that sounds. i don’t get a lot of time to my own thoughts, y’know? i’m always surrounded by people. it’s nice to just, i don’t know, think.”
