Due to his upbringing as Ki/oon (Sony)'s first vocaloid, he felt like he always had to maintain a very Professional and Polite image. After all, whether Ki/oon succeeded or failed depended on how well he did. But this meant he also didn't know how to relax or interact naturally, making him have a feeling of distance from the other vocaloids. His relationship with Rin started off a bit rough too. He appeared just before Kagamine Appends were released, so Rinchan had gotten it into her head to see him as a "rival" and spoke roughly towards him. Piko, being a more proper and serious person, wasn't really sure how to interpret Rin's actions. Luckily, he became friends with Len who was not only friendly as a senpai but a reliable person who could understand being in a similar awkward position as Piko.

As Piko got to know Len, he naturally also hung out more with Rin. Through this, he was able to see Rin's different sides. Rin wasn't merely haughty and arrogant. She also had a fierce temper, hated to lose, and found excitement in competition. Despite talking big, however, she was very easily flustered and was basically as threatening as a preschooler. She also had a cute and cheerful side she only showed to family and friends, something that greatly surprised Piko the first time he ever noticed it.
