the water starter of the Bunova region

it fluffs up its feathers to float on the water, as it cannot swim yet. it makes a distinctive sound when its pretending to not have stolen your food.

the puffs on its arms are floating devices. it only stops screaming when its in the water.

evolves from [blank] at level 32

its a very rude and crass bokemon that harnesses its dark and twisted powers into demonic attacks. its a great swimmer.

hidden ability: prankster

its the satanic bustard! or horned nightjar. or little screamer. or the smallest of birds, the celibate bird. this is the wretched birdman of the trio. admittedly i had trouble coming up with a concept for this one but once i found those wretched birds of drawfee and a image of dnd birdperson it clicked. much like a satanic nightjar. i also used the cool look of the bird from drawtectives for the final evo.

the first one is mostly based on the little bustard, with some changes to match with the others and make it look more like a bokemon. i made the feet blue, inspired by the blue footed booby, and the little feather tuft on the head thatll turn into the demonic water symbol. its also meant to sorta look like a baby thats got one of those floating donuts. i found a picture of that but forgot to include it in the references.

the second evo is more horned screamer esque, with the beak and the eyes. its a screaming toddler. its got those arm floaties that matches the little bustard esque plumage, which also kinda looks like those b&w striped swimsuits i think. the head is shaped like a water drop to even further the water motif since the original inspiration doenst have any of it. basically i wanted it to look like an annoying toddler at the pool.

in the final evo it learns to swim without floatie stuff. its the shitty teenager bokemon. the face is based on the headshot julia did, the bustard plumage is meant to look like the hoodie. the eyebrows are now fully formed horns just like the satanic nightjar, with a glowing water mark instead of the third eye plumage. the legs and arms are based on that dnd bird. i tried to make the wing arms look like theyre flipping you off but it was kinda hard ill try to figure that one out in the next draft. i also tried to make it look more like a sea bird.

the fire starter of the Bunoa region

it is based on the turtle, one of the animals the players of drawtectives originally was gonna play as before julia banned animal people. in addition its main inspiration is the cake turtle that rosé drew in episode 3 of drawtectives s1. the two other drawfee turtle fakemon in the reference images wasnt used much for the concept, i just put them there since theyre turtles and drawfee fakemon. i also found a bunch of cake and other sweets references, and since im a 2010s kid that means loads of pokepuffs and the cake and devils food from miitopia. plus those chocolatw wafer cigar things, idrk what they are or what theyre called but they reminded me of the candle.

i didnt get the first evo down in one, in fact i think this whole line will see the most changes as i keep drawing them. i already have ideas for how to change them. my idea for these at least is of course the candle ass since its a fire type, as well as have the strawberries also be fires. the final one kinda has a skeleton motif too, with the merengue tops being sorta like both spikes and really hot white flames. the sprinkles are meant to look like a spine. i also gave it more of a red velvet coloring to further the fire themeing. and of course, its a fairy type since it seems thats the go to typing for canonical dessert themed pokemon.

it stores heat inside its shell and flares its candle-like tail up when threatened. it weighs about as much as a cream puff.

evolves from [name] at level 15

it has the dread of a prey in its eyes, as many likes to hunt it. however, as it is mostly cream and bone, no hunter will hunt it twice.

evolves from [name] at level 36

are the spikes on its back are both flames and parts of its skeleton. it attacks with the burning hatred cumulated from years of being hunted.

the grass starter of the Bunoa region

it is based on an elephant, the animal nathans character was originally gonna be before julia banned animal people. the baloon elephant in the reference images didnt really factor into the design but i liked looking at it while drawing. i used the communication box elephant as the primary inspiration, since in the video they said if you put a bush on an elephant its basically a pokemon. i extended it to also include mud, since animals irl do really use mud to protect them from the sun. which gave me the idea of the trunk being like a flower shaped watering can, which gave me the idea of giving it a water move. it just so happened that idea worked with the other two's concepts as well.

i still need to work on the colors and shapes of them but im really happy with the first evo. i showed it to my mom and she loved it so that gives me confidence.

this bokemon will never forget you or anyone else. it is a kind, caring and loving creature that easily befriends everyone it meets. it uses its ears to identify people and bokemon by their footsteps, and jumps in happiness when someone it likes approaches.

the bush like foliage on its back protects it from the heat. if it needs further cooling down, it will use its flower-like trunk to suck up mud and spray it on its back.

evolves from [name] at level 36

the petals on its long trunk helps spread the muddy water it sprays on itself and enemies. when sprayed on the ground, the nutrient rich mud will fertilize even the dryest of deserts and beautiful foliage will sprout.

the concept for the starters is the three animals the players originally tried to play as, an elephant, a turtle and wretched birdman. plus some various drawfee references for further inspiration. the grass elephant is based on the communication box elephant, the fire turtle is based on the cake turtle, and the wretched bird is based on various drawfee creations, mostly the little bustard and the satanic nightjar.

each of them can also learn a few moves of another starters type, for example the bush elephant can learn muddy water, water gun and such moves since its based on an elephant, which helps counter fire types. the fire turtle can learn some grass type noves like magical leaf, due to the cake turtles tendency to get leaves and sticks stuck on it, which helps counter water types. the wretched water bird can learn some fire type moves due to its demonic concept, which helps counter grass types.

i hope my drawtectives fan projects will be comforting to other fans who are sad about the show as we know it ending. thats how it is for me at least. i wanna use this project to celebrate my love for drawtectives and pokemon and as a way to cope

I knew id need dog bokemon, particularely one for harold but i didnt want it to just be a real dog. i looked into mabostiff since i figured its probably the closest pokemon to harold and saw the tibetan mastiff. i dont know much about dogs but thats the best dog ive ever seen so i added that to my refs. i also included poochy bc thats the best video game dog ever. basically just a collection of good dogs. this is the good dog bokemon. 2 for 2 on snow bokemon with big tongues oopsies. name still pending

i was inspired by julias knockoff pokemon before it finished and pictured this seal eyed snow leopard with a lickitung tongue so i went for it. name still pending

the project is a comic fanfic drawtectives pokemon au! however as you may have noticed the blog name is not spelled correctly, and thats not because it wasnt available.

since in drawtectives they often replace the first letter with a B to make an in universe version, id do the same with Pokemon! thus Bokemon. then i remembered boke means idiot in japanese so its basically dumb monsters. which is perfect for drawfee. so full title is Bokemon! where we use dumb monsters to win even dumber battles. (im very pleased with how that played out)

im probably gonna post the comic here and on ao3, as i wanna make it clear that its intended as fanfiction, just in comic form. im also planning on making a written version to go along with it on ao3 for people who cant read the comic.

my intention is basically to make it stylistically similar to the pokemon anime and the adventures manga series since they are both incredibly nostalgic and beloved works of art to me. this project is very self indulgent.
