I never asked for the perfect life and it’s far from it. My life consists of trying to be a normal high school student, while making content on social media and a traveling schedule that just doesn’t seem to quite get there. But my life also is made up amazing people who love me, such as Gray who has been my boyfriend for three months now. My life isn’t perfect but there is perfection in it. Life doesn’t need to be perfect but good.
I do not have the perfect job. When I started acting, I though the work load would be less and the glamour of the red carpet would be more. But instead I juggle scripts for Youtube and movies as I go back in forth between the two. The carpet whether it is blue, green or red, is always stressful. Sometimes it gets so bad that I skip the carpet. But when Gray is right next to me, holding my hand and whispering to me that I can do it, I can take a breathe and let myself take it all in. Because my career doesn’t need to be perfect it just has to be worth it.
My boyfriend isn’t perfect.
“Gray, you promised you would be here.” My tone is harsh as I look at the the clock, it was the most important dinner of my career and he was thirty minutes late.
“Y/N, I have a job too. I can’t drop everything and come.”
“This isn’t me asking you to do that. This is me telling you something, that you promised something and now you’re not here.”
“Just take someone else. It’s not that big of a deal.”
“Are you serious? It’s the most important dinner of my career. I’m sorry it’s not fun but you-”
“I get it! I promised but I’m not coming.”
“You are such an asshole!” I yell into the phone and hang up. I quickly pull myself together and leave without him.
“The dinner went fine, Mom. I was just stressed, I really could’ve used someone there though.” I open my apartment door to find a pizza and ice-cream on my counter with Gray laying on my couch with a cozy blanket and pillows. “Mom can I call you back?” I hang up as Gray walks towards me.
“I’m sorry, I was an asshole. I’m sorry I didn’t come to dinner. I am sorry.” He says as he quickly kisses my lips, holding me with one arm.
“Unless that movie is a rom-com and you brought one of your sweatshirts to wear you can leave.” I say taking a step back from him. He just smiles and hands me his sweatshirt.
We need to be alone. But we still comeback.
“I don’t want to watch any of these!” Grayson mutters as we look through Netflix to find something to watch. I roll my eyes, he’s been acting like a child for the past few hours and it’s start to get on my nerves.
“I'm going to go.” I get up, untangling myself from him and the blankets.
“I need to be alone, you definitely need to be alone right now. I will call you tomorrow. I love you.” I leave his apartment, quickly so he isn’t able to respond. l love him but he was getting on my last nerve. As I reach my apartment, which is only a block down, I grab one of his sweatshirts and pretend that he’s here with me watching.
I wake up to the smell of pancakes from my kitchen, immediately I know it’s Gray. His back is turned to me as he continues to cook.
“Grayson Bailey. Are you making me food?!” I hug his back, snuggling myself into him.
“Thought I’d make my princess some food and then cuddle for the rest of the day.” I kiss his back.
My relationship doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be true. “Babe? Are you ready to go!” I walk down my stairs to find my boyfriend sitting on my couch looking amazing.
“Hi.” I mumble as he walks to me, giving me a light kiss. “Did you see the article?”
“I did. I told you I was perfect.” He laughs taking my hand and pulling me out of my apartment.
It isn’t perfect but it’s true.
