Be tender with your forever

The hardest thing you will ever do in your life is forgive someone who never apologized. But you don’t need to do this for them; you need to do this for yourself.

You can’t choose which parts of her you love. Even in all the ugly moments, she should still be the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with. People are not perfect, they have flaws. You don’t get to choose which ones to leave out. That’s not honest love.

In a letter that she drafted but never sent to Isabel, she lamented, “No one over fourteen years old really wants a mother, or ought to want one.”

But the sun does not apologize for the days it hides behind the clouds. You are allowed to sleep in and settle under the covers. You are allowed to have moments when life feels like it’s standing still. In these moments, rest, recharge, try not to compare yourself to others.

If you are in love and withering, then this is not love, because when in love, a rose should bloom.
